Parliament-NIHR cooperation highlighted

Manama, Jan. 4 (BNA): Speaker Ahmed Ibrahim Al Mulla affirmed that the upcoming period will witness more cooperation between Parliament and the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) in line with the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, to develop the rights activism and reinforce the culture of human rights in the Kingdom. The Speaker highlighted Bahrain’s progressive achievements of civilizational initiatives and rights strides. He affirmed the importance of promoting and showcasing them locally and internationally as well as the need to communicate with international human rights organisations and institutions. He expressed his appreciation of the NIHR’s ongoing efforts and numerous programmes and projects, and commended Parliament’s partnership with the National Institution as well as continuous coordination with the Parliamentary Committee on Human Rights. These remarks came as the Speaker today met with NIHR President Maria Khoury, in the presence of MP Abdulrahman Bu Majeed the Head of Human Rights Committee, and Khalid Al Shaer member of the Commissioners Board and Abdullah Al Drazi the Vice President of the National Institution for Human Rights.
