Parliament receives demand to lift three lawmakers' immunity

Manama, May 25 (BNA): The Council of Representatives has received a demand to lift the immunity of three MPs, in connection with a complaint lodged against them by another lawmaker. Speaker Ahmed bin Ibrahim Al-Mulla received a letter in this regard from Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al-Khalifa. The lawmaker filed a complaint a few months ago against the MPs who issued a statement which she deemed defamatory and harming her reputation. The notification was referred to the relevant Legislative Committee to study it and submit a report as the Council of Representatives convenes on Tuesday for it closing session.
