Parliamentary staff conclude visit to Singapore

Manama, Aug. 4 (BNA): A delegation from the Council of Representatives' General Secretariat concluded its participation in the third workshop organised by the US Department of Trade in Singapore around the theme of "legislative drafting", on August 1-3. Bahrain's participation comes to boost the joint parliamentary cooperation at the directives of Speaker Ahmed bin Ebrahim Al Mulla to boost and develop the general secretariat's staff performance and increase their expertise in parliamentary work and to familiarise them with leading parliamentary and legislative experiences. The delegation was headed by Dr. Saleh Al Ghaith the head of the Council's Advisory Board and staff from the General Secretariat who conducted a reconnaissance field tour in the Singaporean parliamentary building and viewed the Singaporean legislative and parliamentary experience and exchanged expertise pertaining to legislative and monitoring affairs. The delegation members said their visit comes to confirm the key role undertaken by the Council's General Secretariat in terms of activation of mutual exchanging and benefiting from the expertise and experience with various parliaments and parliamentary associations worldwide in addition to the provision of suitable opportunity to deepen the dialogue and communication with parliamentary officials and experts in Singapore and to discuss various topics of mutual interest. The Bahraini parliamentary delegation presented an important working paper regarding the State's Public Budget, its mechanisms, and also centered on parliamentary work and career in Bahrain, showcasing the tasks assigned to the Council of Representatives and the legislations tabled for discussion by its committees during the current legislative term. They also informed the participants from various world parliaments and parliamentary associations about the Kingdom of Bahrain's democratic parliamentary experience which met with the appreciation and applause of the various participating delegations.
