People warned to beware of Aedes-borned diseases
BANGKOK, September 27 (TNA) - The Thai Ministry of Public Health has warned people to beware of three common house mosquito-borne deadly diseases, including dengue fever, Zika fever and chikungunya, during the rainy season currently.
Dr. Suwannachai Watanayingcharoenchai, Director-General of the ministry's Department of Disease Control, cautioned on Thursday that water Logged in many areas, and even in outdoor uncovered-containers, where there have been downpours could become the sources of the three fatal viral diseases.
Dr. Suwannachai suggested that people, thus, always keep their buildings clean, as well as prevent and eliminate Aedes sources in their areas and neighborhood to be safe from the deadly diseases.
Dr. Suwannachai advised that there are six areas where people should be specially careful to prevent any outbreak of the three-Aedes borne diseases, including houses/communities, educational institutes, hospitals/clinics, hotels/resorts, factories and religious sites.
For dengue fever alone, the senior physician said there have been more than 59,000 patients reported since the beginning of this year, most of whom are youths aged 10-24 years old, 74 of them have died.
According to the senior physician, people should go to see the doctor if having a high fever for more than two days, pains or aches and, in some cases, rash in their bodies, as well as feeling weak, and should never take any medicine that is not prescribed by their doctors.
The senior official also advised that people call his department's hotline,1422, in case that they need more information. (TNA)
