Philippine Embassy Welcomes Sentencing Of Human Trafficker

KUALA LUMPUR, March 31 (Bernama) -- The Philippine Embassy in Kuala Lumpur has welcomed a decision by the Sessions court here to sentence a maid recruitment agency owner to six years jail for trafficking in two Filipinas in 2008. Singaporean Eugene Lim Beng Huat was found guilty on two counts of trafficking in the women. Lim, 40, was charged with trafficking in Marivic Relon Capistrano, 35, and Marilou de la Cruz Bagsit, 37, at No. 18, Jalan Metro Perdana Barat 15, Kepong, near here at 5am on June 30, 2008. Philippine Ambassador to Malaysia J. Eduardo Malaya thanked the Malaysian Government, particularly the Attorney-General's Chambers and the police, over their strong partnership in the campaign against human trafficking.
