PHUKET, Nov 13 (TNA) – Tens of thousands of people in Thailand’s southern province of Phuket on Nov 12 took part in a candlelight vigil in remembrance of His Majesty late King Bhumibol Adulyadej who passed away last month. Phuket Governor Chokchai Dejamornthan said the evening event was also held to mark 30 days after the late king’s death. More than 20,000 people gathered at Phromthep Cape, a famous sunset viewpoint in the province, to light candles and sing the royal anthem in honor of the late king. In addition, another highlight was the performance of 89 ships lining up in the shape of the number nine. The participating ships came from the 3rd Royal Thai Navy region, Marine and Coastal Management Office 6 (Phuket), Marine Department's Region 5 office, Customs Department, Marine Police and trawlers. HM King Bhumibol, or King Rama IX, was the ninth monarch of Thailand’s Chakri Dynasty, which was founded in 1782. (TNA)
