PM Prayuth Leads Delegation To ASEAN Summit

BANGKOK, Nov 11 (Bernama) -- Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan o-cha is leading a delegation to the 40th and 41st ASEAN Summits and related summits in Phnom Penh from Thursday to Sunday (10-13 Nov).
Acting government spokesperson Anucha Burapachaisri said Prayuth who is also defence minister is scheduled to attend 16 meetings including ASEAN with leaders from Australia, Canada, China, India, Japan, South Korea, United States, the United Nations, ASEAN Plus Three Summit and East Asia Summit (EAS).
He said Prayuth will meet representatives of ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, ASEAN Youth, and the ASEAN Business Advisory Council.
He added that Prayuth will attend the 2nd ASEAN Global Dialogue theme: “Post-COVID-19 Inclusive Recovery” which will be attended by the ASEAN leaders, dialogue partners, and high-level representatives from international organizations.
“Art the summits, prime minister will put forward three areas of cooperation namely public health security, economic recovery and digital development in the region,” he said in a statement.
Meanwhile, Secretariat of the Prime Minister said Thailand’s key message for the 40th and 41st ASEAN summits and related summits will be “Strengthening Present – Joining Forces Toward Future – Respecting ASEAN Way”.
“Priorities to be put forward by Thailand at the summits are strengthening the ASEAN Community in preparation for common challenges, economic and public health challenges; opportunity building for sustainable future, and regional security and peacekeeping, among others,” it said.
This year, 40th and 41st ASEAN Summits and related summits carried the theme “ASEAN A.C.T.: Addressing Challenges Together” which reflects ASEAN’s collective effort in addressing various challenges, both the COVID-19 pandemic, geopolitical volatility, and international and regional unrest.
