Police Urged To return Bodies Of Suspected Terrorists To Families
Palu, C Sulawesi, Jan 31 (ANTARA) - The National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) has urged the National Police to return the bodies of six suspected terrorists to their respective families soon for burial.
The autopsy of the six bodies which had lasted for around one month was too long, Komnas HAM commissioner Siane Indriani said here on Thursday.
Two of the six suspected terrorists came from Makassar (South Sulawesi), two from Dompu (West Nusa Tenggara), and two from Poso (Central Sulawesi).
It was the right of their families to bury the bodies of the six suspected terrorists in their hometowns, Siane said.
"The bodies should be immediately returned to their families on humanitarian grounds," she said.
She said the Police Headquarters had once demanded that the bodies be buried in Jakarta for security reasons in regions including Poso district.
"As a matter of fact, we have coordinated with the Poso deputy district head who gave the assurance that the district is already secure and conducive," she said.
Lateness in the handover of the bodies to their families might cause a new problem in the public, she said.
The Komnas HAM had met with the relatives of suspected terrorists in Poso. They wanted the bodies returned to them soon, she said.
