Premier calls for cementing national unity

Manama, Aug. 16 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa has affirmed that the Bahraini society is strong and cohesive thanks to its national unity and ability to face challenges and deal with them responsibly. Such features are among the key elements of Bahrain’s strength and progress during His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s prosperous era. HRH Premier made the remarks while receiving at the Gudaibiya Palace today some Royal Family members, senior state officials, businessmen and media personnel. The Prime Minister said that the rapidly-unfolding regional developments require stronger national, GCC and Arab solidarity to deal with them and confront them according to an integrated collective vision to fortify the region against fragmentation and division. Among the most serious challenges is terrorism which has roots across the region and across the world, he said, stressing that the threats represented by terrorism require combating it and uprooting it. Unfortunately, terrorism has become attractive to extremists, and is being used to spread chaos and subvert security of countries in order to facilitate their destruction and division to serve the agenda of those behind it, hence the importance of fighting its regionally and globally, HRH Premier also said. Tackling domestic issues, the Prime Minister stressed the need to pay more attention to aspects that cement national unity and strengthen social cohesion in the midst of the clear targeting of the nation by those who seek no good to Bahrain and its people in a bid to sow divide among the members of this society and pass their agendas. HRH the Prime Minister stressed that the Bahraini people is well-aware of the such plots, and will never be a conduit through which agendas that target the security and stability of the entire region pass, noting that the Kingdom of Bahrain will remain an oasis of security and safety, and a robust shield that protects the region from all threats.
