Premier's care for sickle cell patients praised

Manama, Feb. 27 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa has received a cable of thanks from the Secretary-General of the Board of Directors of the Bahrain Society for Sickle Cell Anaemia Patient Care, Zakariya Ibrahim Al-Kadhem. Al-Kadhem extended, on behalf of the society’s board members, sincere thanks and gratitude to HRH Premier for his constant efforts in the service of sickle cell patients in Bahrain. He said that the fourth anniversary of the opening of the Hereditary Blood Disorder Centre at the Salmaniya Medical Complex, which was built thanks to the Premier’s directives, is an opportunity to recall the Prime Minister’s incessant efforts to support sickle cell patients. He added that the centre delivers advanced medical services and treatment that have benefited sickle cell anaemia patients, and improved their life. The centre has also provided a platform to conduct medical research in hereditary diseases, which enhanced the kingdom’s status as an internationally-recognised centre in combating sickle cell anemia, he also said.
