Preparations for World Heritage Committee meeting reviewed

Manama, Mar. 13 (BNA): President of Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa met in her office today with a number of officials in charge of preparing for Bahrain’s hosting of the 42nd meeting of the World Heritage Committee which will be held from June 24 to July 7. Bahrain will preside the meeting after a vote by the majority of the participating countries in the last session of UNESCO’s General Assembly, in Paris. The kingdom will also host on the sidelines of the meeting two forums from June 17 to 26 and from June 20 to 28. It is to note that Bahrain was able to get the membership and presidency of the World Heritage Committee twice thanks to the kingdom’s pioneering projects to protect heritage, including mainly hosting the Arab Regional Centre for World Heritage which aims to protect the heritage sites in the Arab countries.
