President: Bolot Shamshiyev managed to erect eternal monument to himself by tireless work

Bishkek, Dec.24, 2019. /Kabar/. Today, Dec. 24 Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov sent a message on occasion of funeral for famous film director Bolot Shamshiyev. The address was read by Head of the President’s Office of Kyrgyzstan Dosaly Esenaliyev. The text of the address of the President: "Today we are paying our last respects to People's Artist of the USSR, People's Artist of the Kyrgyz Republic, winner of the USSR State Prize, great film director Bolot Shamshiyev. Thanks to his excellent films, he was known not only in the Soviet Union, but also far beyond its borders. The fruits of Bolot Shamshiyev’s work are an integral part of the era of the Kyrgyz miracle. Director's talent of Bolot Shamshiyev was revealed through the works of great writer of our time Chyngyz Aitmatov, and he has rightfully become one of the film classics of the 20th century. Bolot Shamshiyev has invested a lot of work in the study of the history of the Kyrgyz people, especially the greatest Manas epic. In 1995, when the country celebrated the 1000th anniversary of the Manas epic, he was the main director of a large-scale theatrical performance to celebrate this anniversary. Bolot Shamshiyev was not only a great film director, but also a visionary leader, able to identify the sparks of talent in many actors, helped them to prove themselves and unlock their potential. Bolot Shamshiyev is also known as a prominent statesman and public figure. He was a deputy in two convocations of the Jogorku Kenesh, ambassador, and head of the Agency for Tourism and Sports. In the last years of his life, he wrote a number of scripts for films, developed more than ten film projects, published three books. Just recently we met with him, he shared with me his new ideas. He was full of creative plans. The state highly appreciated the activity of Bolot Shamshiyev, he was awarded the Manas Order of the 3rd, 2nd degrees. Bolot Shamshiyev is no longer with us, but his bright image will forever remain in the hearts of admirers of his talent, grateful compatriots. He managed to erect an eternal monument to himself through his creativity and tireless work," the President’s message said. Outstanding film director, People's Artist of the Kyrgyz Republic Bolot Shamshiev died at the age of 79 on Dec.21 after a long illness. His 1976 film The White Ship, based on the eponymous story of famous Kyrgyz writer Chyngyz Aitmatov, was entered into the 26th Berlin International Film Festival. He directed eleven films between 1965 and 1988, including A Shot On The Karash Pass (1968), Crimson Poppies Of Issyk-Kul (1971), The Echo Love (1974), The White Ship (1975), Among The People (1978), Early Cranes (1979), Wolf Hole (1983), The Climbing to Mount Fuji ( 1988).
