President Jeenbekov invites UAE companies to invest in Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, Dec.12, 2019 /Kabar/. President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov on Thursday met with representatives of large companies and business circles of the United Arab Emirates, his press service reported. The meeting, held as part of the Kyrgyz President’s official visit to the Emirates, was attended by representatives of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Jeenbekov noted today the UAE is an important trade and economic partner of Kyrgyzstan. “Thanks to the balanced trade, economic and investment policy of the UAE leadership, foreign investors are now seeking to invest in the Emirates. This experience will be an example for Kyrgyzstan,” said Sooronbay Jeenbekov. The President noted despite the small volume of trade turnover, there are great opportunities and potential for joint implementation between the two countries. “Our main goal is to increase the volume of trade between the countries and attract Arab investments to Kyrgyzstan. At the moment, we have projects for the construction of small and medium-sized hydropower plants, which are of interest to investors. There are also great opportunities in tourism. Kyrgyzstan is ready to increase the volume of exports of ecologically clean and organic products. I believe that they will find their place in the UAE markets," Sooronbay Jeenbekov said. He noted the Kyrgyz side has done a lot of work to create favorable conditions for business, and the procedure of business registration has been simplified. Among the advantages, he also mentioned low electricity prices, exemption from customs duties on the import of technological equipment, the availability of a free currency regime, the country's membership in the Eurasian Economic Union and the status of GSP+. In view of the above, President Sooronbay Jeenbekov called on representatives and heads of large companies to invest in various sectors of the Kyrgyz economy, noting that the Government will provide all the necessary assistance to this end. At the meeting, Director of the Investment Promotion and Protection Agency of the Kyrgyz Republic Adilbek Shumkarbek uulu made a presentation on Kyrgyzstan’s investment opportunities and priority sectors for investment. He spoke about the advantages of implementing infrastructure and other projects, including in the regions of the country. In conclusion, Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov stressed Kyrgyzstan is open to foreign investors and once again invited representatives of the UAE business community to invest in Kyrgyzstan. Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov is in the UAE for official visit at the invitation of Prince of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Within the framework of the official visit, bilateral meetings are planned with UAE Vice President and Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. In addition, Jeenbekov is expected to meet with Hamad Salem bin Cardous Al Ameri, the Director General of the Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahayan Charitable Foundation and with compatriots temporarily residing in the UAE.
