President receives WB Regional Director for Central Asia Lilia Burunciuc

Bishkek, Mar.4, 2020. /Kabar/. President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbay Jeenbekov received on Wednesday World Bank (WB) Regional Director for Central Asia Lilia Burunciuc.
The meeting was also attended by WB Country Manager for the Kyrgyz Republic Bolormaa Amgaabazar, the President’s press service said.
Exchange of opinions on actual directions and prospects of Kyrgyzstan’s cooperation with the World Bank took place.
President Jeenbekov stressed the World Bank is one of the strategic partners of the country, which provides significant support to improve the investment climate, social sphere, development of advanced sectors of the economy, particularly in energy, transport, digitalization, construction of educational and social facilities.
The Kyrgyz leader noted that support from development partners in implementing strategic goals and upcoming reforms is very important for Kyrgyzstan.
WB Regional Director for Central Asia Lilia Burunciuc underlined that cooperation with Kyrgyzstan under the Partnership Framework 2019-2022 will continue.
She also added the Bank plans to establish a Fund for assistance to developing countries to combat coronavirus, and expressed readiness to consider cooperation with Kyrgyzstan in this direction.
Lilia Burunciuc has already met with Kyrgyzstan’s Foreign Minister Chingiz Aidarbekov and Prime Minister Mukhammedkalyi Abylgaziev.
At the meetings, issues of further cooperation for the realization of the existing potential of the republic in the mining, energy and transport sectors, as well as in telecommunications were considered.
