Press award winners to be announced on Wednesday

Manama, Apr.30 (BNA): Winners of the 3rd edition of the Khalifa bin Salman Press Award will be announced on Wednesday (May 2). A ceremony will be held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa, marking Bahrain Press Day, which falls on the 2nd of May. "The jury has completed the process of sorting and arbitrating the works", said Mass Media director, award coordinator Youssef Mohammed, adding that the panel had assessed 230 works. Chaired by Bahrain Journalists’ Association (BJA) chief Moa’nes Al-Mardi the jury also includes Gulf Press Union executive director Farid Ahmed Hassan, Ahlia University media department chief Dr. Zuheir Dhaif and Bahrain University Media Department chief Dr. Maha Al-Rashid. Khalifa bin Salman Press Award coordinator Youssef Mohammed hailed the tangible increase in the number of participants who were in the fray vying for the prize. He underlined the keenness of the Ministry of Information Affairs, the organizing party, on developing the competition and including new categories to the award, named after HRH the Premier.
