Projects ordered by HRH Premier discussed

Manama, Apr. 2 (BNA): Following directives from His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa to Ministerial Committee for Urbanisation and Infrastructure to study 11 development projects across the Southern Governorate, the committee convened at the Gudaibiya Palace today, under the chairman of the Deputy Premier Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa. Southern Governor, HH Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, and the relevant ministries and officials were also present. The deputy premier said that the committee is interested in following up on the projects ordered by HRH the Prime Minister, in accordance with a specified time and financial programme to ensure they are implemented according to best quality and efficiency standards. "We value highly HRH Premier’s sound directives to continue exerting tremendous efforts to enhance the level of services and infrastructure in the kingdom, which will lead to a comprehensive and sustainable development, a development process that is the cornerstone of the government action plan, and takes into account the provision of the current needs, and paves the way for meeting the requirements of the citizens and residents in the future," he said.  The meeting was informed about the progress of the service, social, health, touristic, youth and sport projects, as well as the revamp of the existing infrastructure projects, currently implemented in the Southern Governorate. Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla lauded the ambitious vision of the Southern Governor, and his keenness on meeting the citizens directly to identify their needs and submit them to HRH Premier to approve them, and then coordinate efforts with the relevant ministries and government departments to start technical and engineering work. He also praised the role played by the private sector in financing development projects. During the meeting, the committee requested, based on HRH Premier’s directives, the Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry, the Housing Ministry, the Health Ministry and the Youth and Sports Affairs Ministry to coordinate with the Finance Ministry and submit to it the technical designs, needs funds and the proposed schedule for implementing seven projects, included with the first set of development projects. The projects include a health centre that serves the Khalifa Town inhabitants, a hall in Al-Dour, Askar stadium revamp, Avenue 96 revamp, Al-Hunainiya Park revamp to turn it into a heritage village, Al-Bu Kuwara Park revamp to transform it into a cultural centre and a heritage site and the revamp of the Riffa Central Market. Southern Governor extended deepest thanks and appreciation to HRH the Prime Minister for giving directives to the relevant ministries to implement 14 development, service and touristic projects in the governorate, including 11 projects that are currently under study by the Ministerial Committee for Urbanisation and Infrastructure, and three others that are currently implemented, including the HH Shaikha Mooza bint Hamad Al Khalifa Comprehensive School for Girls, the Zallaq Youth Centre and the Isa Town Souq revamp.
