Putin Intends To Attend G20 Summit In Bali, Says Russian Envoy

By Mohd Iswandi Kasan Anuar JAKARTA, March 24 (Bernama) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin is planning to attend G20 Summit in Bali in November, according to reports. Indonesian media quoted Russian Ambassador to Indonesia Lyudmila Vorobieva as saying that her country has been invited to come to G20. “It will depend on many things, including the Covid-19 situation, that is getting better. But, so far his intention is to… he wants to come,” she said. International organisations including G20, World Trade Organisation and World Custom Organisation are trying to expel the country, Vorobieva, said adding that the move “is absolutely unproportional”. “What they're trying to do is to actually to destroy the whole trade and logistic system that has been so painstakingly built in the last decades,” she said. Vorobieva stressed G20 is a forum aims at improving economic situations and solving economic problems, not a forum to discuss or to solve armed conflict in Ukraine. “Expulsion of Russia from this kind of forum will not help these economic problems to be resolved, on contrary, without Russia it would be difficult to do so.” Russia's war on Ukraine, which began on Feb 24, has been met with international outrage, with the European Union, US and UK among others implementing tough financial sanctions on Moscow. -- BERNAMA
