Qajar photos on tazieh showcased at Tehran exhibit
TEHRAN,Nov. 30 (MNA) -- An exhibition of photos depicting scenes of tazieh performances during the Qajar era opened at Tehran’s Vahdat Hall on Tuesday.
The showcase includes thirty photos by Abdollah Qajar, Mirza Ebrahim Khan Akkasbashi and several other photographers.
The photos illustrate the costumes, accessories and places of old Tehran via tazieh, researcher Alireza Qasemkhan told .
The photos are kept in the Golestan Palace and they were unveiled for the first time by the Rudaki Foundation and the management of the Golestan Palace, he said.
“Audiences can also see tazieh performances when they come to look at the photos,” he announced.
He said that a book containing 50 photo taken from tazieh performances during the Qajar era and some articles written by Qasemkhan is available at the exhibit.
The Iranian passion play tazieh recounts religious events, historical and mythical stories and folk tales. Each performance has the four components of poetry, music, song and motion.
