Qatar 2022/ Chairman of Omani Human Rights Committee: Success of Tournament is Gain for GCC Sates, Arab World

Doha, December 04 (QNA) - HE Chairman of Oman Human Rights Committee Sheikh Abdullah bin Shuwain Al Hosni confirmed that the success of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 is considered a gain for the entire region, the people of GCC states and the entire Arab world. During his visit to "Human Rights and Football" exhibition organized by the National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) in the new garden of Sheraton Hotel, His Excellency said that he congratulates himself and the State of Qatar for this impressive success in organizing the world cup, adding that he hopes for the process to continue with the same pace the tournament pursued, indicating that he predicts further successes, occasions and sporting and human rights events, including other fields in the State of Qatar. HE Chairman of the Omani Human Rights Committee noted the messages relayed by the exhibition through connecting the sports with human rights values in expressive paintings in conjunction with this major global event hosted by the State of Qatar represented by FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, pointing out that sports is one of the most beautiful practices that offer further hope to obtain the humanitarian rights. The exhibition's paintings convey essential message to the fans which is fact that sport is the right for all, and is one of the inherent human rights, he added, expressing his appreciation for NHRC in the State of Qatar for this excellent effort. His Excellency underlined that the Omani Human Rights Committee always backs the work of NHRC through any occasion, reaction or exerted effort, pointing out that the delegation of Omani Human Rights Committee is providing a part of duty for this success in hosting the world cup. The exhibition is an artistic and cultural platform that contributes to promoting the culture of human rights, respect for the human diversity and humanitarian co-existence as one of the aims of sport and its objectives. The exhibition's paintings embody the principles of human rights in practicing the sports in general, and soccer in particular, and convey numerous messages concerning the rights of fans and their duties, such renouncing racism in stadiums and propagating the culture of tolerance and peace. The exhibition comes in the framework of the recommendations set by the first national forum on human rights on the importance of the "right to sport" concept approach, along with the values and principles set forth in the resolutions of Human Rights Council, and the relevant the Olympic Charter in the public policies concerning the human development as one of the vital pillars for the sustainable development and the national strategies related to youth and health. In addition, there is a delegation from the volunteers from the Oman Human Rights Committee who are working in lockstep with NHRC in the State of Qatar within the framework of the positive contribution in FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 tournament to enrich the rights experience in the tournament through sharing the expertise in this field.
