Qatar Marks Arab Nurses and Midwives Day

Doha, November 02 (QNA) - The State of Qatar Participates in celebrating the Arab Nurses and Midwives Day on Nov. 3 each year to commemorate the great efforts of professional nurses and midwives in supporting their patients, healthcare organizations and their communities. As part of the celebration, Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), in cooperation with the Ministry of Public Health, and a number of hospitals and clinics affiliated with entities and institutions in the country, organized the 2nd Arab Nurses and Midwives Virtual Conference. Managing Director of Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) Dr. Mariam Alabdulmalik stated that Arab Nurses and Midwives Day is an opportunity to recognize the great legacy of the Arab pioneers who provided nursing and midwifery services from historic times right through to the modern age. She noted the presence of professional nursing and midwifery cadres who are committed to providing the highest standards of patient care in the health care sector in public and private primary and specialized care facilities, pointing out that health care institutions depend on qualified nursing and midwifery cadres to provide a lot of direct work with the patient or references. Last year, the Council of Arab Ministers for Health approved the celebration of the Arab Nurses and Midwifes Day, as all Arab countries organize local events for health care cadres on the third of November of each year. For her part, HMC Acting Chief Nursing Officer, Nursing Lead for the ongoing planning process for COVID-19 and the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Mariam Al Mutawa stated that the leadership qualities demonstrated by many nurses on multiple frontlines are testimony to the indispensable value and contribution of nursing and midwifery in supporting each country's efforts to secure the health and well-being of its population.
