Qatar Museums Launches New Vision of 'Jedari Art'

Doha, October 12 (QNA) - Qatar Museums launched a new version of the 'Jedari Art' program for public art, which will run until Oct. 31, as the participating artists in the program began to give life to a number of urban places in Doha.
Qatar Museums launched Jadari Art for the first time in 2020 as part of an ongoing initiative to add vitality and artistic sense to Doha's walls through carefully curated murals and street art.
The latest version of Jedary Art program comes in partnership with 'Paul Baty All India Premier', Hilton Salwa Beach Resort and Villas, the Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in the country affiliated to Ashghal, and Qatar Fuel Company (WOQOD).
The Director of Public Art Department at Qatar Museums Engineer Abdulrahman Ahmed Al Ishaq, said in a statement today that the 'Jedari Art' program for public art provides members of society in Qatar with a tangible sense of their surroundings, creates tourist attractions, and increases demand for neighborhoods throughout the city.
He added the Qatar Museums was pleased to be joined by partners to decorate the city’s walls with paintings that revive the vibrant art of truck decoration that is widespread in both India and Pakistan, praising the partners for their continuous support in achieving the ambition of Qatar Museums in revitalizing urban spaces across Doha and sparking meaningful discussion on related topics.
As part of this year's edition of Jedari Art, during this month, school students will be invited to paint a mural by Qatari artist Maryam Al-Ma'adidi entitled "Color Your World", in partnership with Ashghal.
Three local artists namely, Amal Sarhan, Abdulrahman Ahmadi and Maya Attiya, will paint several murals at the Hilton Salwa Beach Resort and Villas from 14 to 17 October.
For his part, artist Lee Baker will paint a mural at the Central Market petrol station, with the support of WOQOD Company.. He will also host Fire Station: Artists' Residence, a lecture on the art of decorating trucks, on October 19.
Engineer Sara Kafood, Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in Qatar, said that the committee aims, through its cooperation with Qatar Museums in the "Jedary Art" program, to revitalize the various regions of the country and give them an artistic touch through creative paintings that combine Qatar's heritage and culture and transforming them into destinations worth visiting and, in turn, spreads vitality and joy in the hearts of visitors, especially with the approaching date of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, when the country receives visitors from all over the world."
She noted that the "Jedari Art" initiative contributes to providing the opportunity for Qatari artists, residents and visitors to display their creative works and contribute to beautifying the streets of Qatar in a way that reflects its identity and interest in public art.
Ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar, Qatar Museums is endeavoring to transform the country into a vast open-air art museum experience through an extensive public art program featuring more than 100 works for the contemplation of local residents and the 1.5 million visitors expected in Doha to attend this big sporting event.(QNA)
