Qatar National Library Hosts Lectures Wednesday on Cuban, Haitian Thought Leaders

Doha, October 11 (QNA) - Qatar National Library (QNL) hosts two lectures in collaboration with the Embassies of Cuba and Haiti in the State of Qatar by focusing on two prominent personalities and their roles in liberating their countries and charting their futures. The first lecture will focus on the Haitian barrister and philosopher, pioneering anthropologist, and journalist Joseph Auguste Antenor Firmin whose publications remain relevant to the present and contemporary issues, and the lecture will be presented by HE Ambassador of the Republic of Haiti to Qatar Jean-Marie Francois Junior Guillaume, whilst the second lecture will highlight the life of Jose Julian Marti Perez, the Cuban poet, philosopher, essayist, journalist, translator, professor, and publisher, who is considered a Cuban national hero because of his role in the liberation of his country, and will be presented by HE Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to the State of Qatar Oscar Leon Gonzalez. At the conclusion of the two lectures, Ambassadors of Cuba and Haiti will offer Qatar National Library numerous books about those two national heroes to nurture the knowledge of the audience in the State of Qatar by the influential personalities in Latin America. In a related context, Qatar National Library is set to host the art exhibition of feather crafts for kids next Thursday under the slogan " We welcome the world in Qatar" to introduce the audience to the efforts of the State of Qatar in preparing FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 through the stadiums established to host this vital global event and to further help children to link the contemporary events and cope with them through using arts and employing the creative and cultural development tools. The exhibition will be inaugurated by HE State Minister, President of Qatar National Library Dr. Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kawari, and contains 32 artistic paintings drawn by the attending students under the supervision of the Qatari artist, Mariam Al Mulla, which overtly embody Qatar's journey in the preparation for FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 tournament. Within the framework of the library's inclusion of all segments of the community, especially persons with disabilities, the exhibition will contain an audio description and high-resolution images to enrich the visit of persons with visual impairments to the exhibition that will continue until the end of December 2022.
