Qatar National Research Fund Launches 6th Grant Program

Doha, September 17 (QNA) - Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF) is launching the sixth grant application process for its competitive project funding initiative the National Priorities Research Program (NPRP). Designed to help build human capacity in Qatar, the NPRP is open to both Qatari and non-Qatari researchers from all disciplines, living in Qatar or abroad. The QNRF is a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development. Previously the Program has attracted some of the world's most capable experts and innovators to the region. Supporting original and competitively selected projects, 567 ventures from 160 collaborative institutions globally have received awards to date. These initiatives have helped advance scientific innovation nationally, and improved Qatar's position within the global academic community. The sixth cycle of NPRP grants will continue to bolster the nation's growing research culture. To launch this round of submissions, QNRF will hold two public information sessions in Qatar on September 24 and broadcast two webinars, scheduled for the convenience of international applicants based in different time zones. Hosted by a panel of QNRF experts, the presentations will outline the application process by detailing current policies and guidelines. A comprehensive question and answer session will also follow the meetings. Online applications commence September 18, with final proposals to be submitted by December 11, 2012. The timeframe for the research-based proposals must be from one to three years, and directly support QNRF's mandate to help boost the nation s transition to a knowledge-based economy. Applicants must comply fully with the requirements listed in the NPRP sixth cycle 'Request for Proposal (RFP),' available to download at http://www.qnrf.org/, to ensure their submissions are complete, the QNRF said, (QNA)
