Qatar Shura Council Participates in IPU Session on Youth Empowerment

Doha, November 28 (QNA) - The Shura Council participated Sunday in a briefing session on Youth, Peace, and Security organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) within the series of Youth Empowerment. HE Member of the Shura Council Omair bin Abdullah Al Nuaimi represented the Shura Council during the session that was held via video conference. The session, which comes within the IPU capacity-building activities, dealt with raising the awareness of young parliamentarians concerning peace and security and relevant Security Council resolutions. The participants also learned about the IPU's work in the field of peace and security, including human and common security approach and weapon disarmament and countering its proliferation. The session also included an assessment of the achieved progress, challenges regarding youth, peace and security at the international and regional levels, challenges and possible solutions related to policy-making, and exchange of positive practices and policies among young parliamentarians.
