Doha, October 09 (QNA) - Qatari newspapers highlighted various topics and issues on Sunday. On the domestic front, the newspapers invited the world to enjoy the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, which will be held for the first time in the Arab and Middle East region, stressing that the State of Qatar welcomes everyone to enjoy the splendor of football and see the true nature of the people of our region who are known for their warm welcome and unlimited hospitality. The newspapers also highlighted the Qatari team's preparations before its first participation in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, noting that the Asian champion began the third and final journey of its preparations before returning to the homeland on November 13, one week before the start of the tournament on 20th of November against Ecuador at Al Bayt Stadium. On the Arab issue, the newspapers highlighted the steadfast and continuous Qatari position in support of the Palestinian brothers and the Palestinian cause, as the Palestinian people face a continuous Israeli escalation that amounts to total war through the daily attacks of the occupation forces. The newspapers called on the international community to move and exert effective pressure to resolve the existing conflict. For its part, Al-Raya newspaper reported that the State of Qatar has repeatedly emphasized its confidence in the positive energy of football and its ability to accelerate the realization of Qatar's national vision for development through hosting the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 for the first time in the Arab region and the Middle East. It explained that the State of Qatar has sent messages of welcome to everyone, regardless of their cultures and affiliations. The newspaper called on everyone to cooperate in order to hold a successful, inclusive and enjoyable World Cup for all, and, instead of smear campaigns, support development and progress. Factually, the State of Qatar is the first country in the Gulf region to decide to abolish the sponsorship system completely, and replace it with work contracts between companies and expatriate workers. It is also the first country in the Middle East to adopt a minimum wage with decent housing for workers. It concluded its editorial by saying that we should enjoy the differences between us without disregarding the laws, traditions and culture of the host county, which repeatedly welcomed everyone to enjoy football and the true nature of the people of our region who are known for their warm welcome and unlimited hospitality. For its part, the English-language newspaper The Peninsula highlighted the preparations of the Qatari national team before its first participation in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, noting that the Asian champion began the third and final journey of its preparations before returning to Qatar on November 13, one week before the tournament kicks off against Ecuador at Al Bayt Stadium on November 20. The newspaper said that Qatari National Football team, Al Annabi, began its preparations for the World Cup in June, with a training camp in the Spanish city of Marbella, before it went to a camp in Austria, adding that the team played many matches, including international friendly matches against Canada and Chile. It stated that before returning to Spain for the final stage, Al Annabi held an open training session at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium last week, in the presence of a large crowd. At the same time, the promotional activities of the Qatar Football Association continues in support of the national team, as officials of the Association visited the various schools that held events to support Al Annabi. The newspaper explained that the Qatari team aims to bypass the group stage after facing European giants the Netherlands and African champions Senegal, especially since all the host countries qualified for the second round except for South Africa. The newspaper concluded its editorial by pointing out that the Qatari national team prepared well for the upcoming challenge, and will start the World Cup with confidence to appear strongly in front of the home fans. Al-Sharq newspaper said that the Palestinian people are facing a continuous Israeli escalation that amounts to a total war through the daily attacks of the occupation forces, which led to the death of four Palestinians during the past 24 hours in bloody raids and incursions in the West Bank, in addition to the continuation of other violations, including arrests, home demolitions, displacement, settlement, and attacks on holy sites, among others. The newspaper said in its editorial that the bloody incursion into Jenin camp on Saturday is only part of the series of bloody escalation by the Israeli occupation forces in the occupied West Bank. The State of Qatar has been alerting and reminding the world of the consequences of what is happening in the Palestinian territories and reiterating the need for the Security Council to assume its responsibility to compel Israel to end the occupation of the Palestinian territories and establish a Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital in all international forums, the latest of which is the recent speech of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, before the General Assembly of the United Nations, Al-Sharq noted. Al-Sharq concluded its editorial by saying that the attention that HH the Amir attaches to the Palestinian cause and his continuous support for it and the Palestinian people, makes him a party to all consultations and contacts concerned with Palestinian developments. The most prominent example of that is the last call that His Highness received on Friday evening from HE President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas. During the phone call, they discussed bilateral relations and the latest developments on the Palestinian arena. For its part, Al-Watan newspaper said that the Palestinian people are facing an all-out war that has not stopped for decades, aimed at occupying their land, in addition to the settlers’ continued crimes by protecting the occupation army; nonetheless, the Palestinian people remained steadfast, defending its legitimate rights by using all legal methods to confront the brutal killing machine. It is necessary to pay close attention to the responsibilities of the United States, in particular, as the party capable of exerting effective pressure that would force the Israeli government to engage in a peaceful process that would lead to granting this people their legitimate rights, foremost of which is the right to establish their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital, the newspaper noted. Al-Watan concluded by saying that the international community can move and exert effective pressure to resolve one of the oldest and most dangerous conflicts on international peace and security. (QNA)
