Doha, December 12 (QNA) - Qatari newspapers covered several topics in their editorials Monday, highlighting the International Conference on Afghan Women's Education held in Bali, which came to affirm the State of Qatar's commitment to the development and prosperity in Afghanistan, as a firm stance within the framework of its continuous efforts to stand by the Afghan people.
The newspapers also referred to the leaps achieved by the State of Qatar in self-sufficiency in agricultural production with its both plant and animal sectors through drawing up the appropriate national plans and strategies that enhance this goal,
The newspapers noted the international acclaims expressing the success of the State of Qatar's organization of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, pointing out that Qatar excelled in organizing an unprecedented version of the exceptional World Cup on all scales.
In its editorial, Al-Sharq newspaper said that the State of Qatar's commitment to development and prosperity in Afghanistan constitutes a firm stance within the framework of its continuous efforts to stand by the Afghan people, and its pioneering roles in this file, which have received regional and international appreciation, whether through its mediation that resulted in the historic agreement between the United States and the Afghan Taliban movement, or the main roles it played in the massive evacuations of tens of thousands of nationals of the world and Afghan citizens from Afghanistan, in addition to its role in building bridges of communication between countries of the West and the caretaker government of Afghanistan, as well as the many major contributions in this file.
The paper considered that the international conference organized by the State of Qatar, in partnership with the Republic of Indonesia, on Afghan Women's Education, which was held in the Indonesian city of Bali with the participation of more than 40 countries, in addition to a large number of educational organizations and institutions, the private sector and personalities, including the United Nations, the European Union, UNESCO, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the World Islamic Bank, comes to highlight the commitment of the international community towards women's education in Afghanistan, and to emphasize the urgent need to find strong solutions to address the barriers that limit the access of Afghan girls and women to education.
The newspaper indicated that the conference was an urgent necessity to build a coordinated and comprehensive long-term strategy that would support all women in Afghanistan, and even all the Afghan people who live in difficult economic conditions.
Al-Sharq concluded by saying that the State of Qatar will continue its efforts in defending the rights of everyone in Afghanistan, especially women's rights, by supporting initiatives and projects that aim to achieve lasting peace, stability and prosperity in Afghanistan, and support the rights of Afghan women, including the right in education.
In turn, Al-Watan hailed the great strides achieved by the State of Qatar in self-sufficiency from the agricultural production with its both plant and animal sectors, in addition to providing high sufficiency rates from agriculture through drawing up the appropriate national plans and strategies that enhance this goal.
The newspaper said that Qatar's agricultural production from local vegetables has increased from 22,000 tons to roughly 35,000 tons during November and December 2022, which represents 60 percent compared to the same period last year, pointing out that the data that were monitored during November 2022, after the construction of the local agricultural product squares have demonstrated an increase in the quantity of the offered vegetables with 33 percent, reaching 1067 tons compared to 800 tons for the same period of the previous season.
The paper underlined that local production will contribute to achieving food security and the State's need for it, especially after an annual support of QR 70 million allocated over a period of five years, with the aim of stimulating agricultural, livestock and fish production and marketing agricultural products, to attain self-sufficiency in crops by 70 percent by 2023, which means that Qatar is on the right track to expand the circle of plant and livestock products, such as vegetables, dates, red meat, poultry, eggs, fish, milk and green fodder, taking into account the preservation of the country's natural resources and ensuring good exploitation of them.
In conclusion, Al-Watan stressed that the amplification of the local production from vegetables, meat, fish, poultry, table eggs and animal feed, by more than 400 percent in one year, means that things are going as planned on the path to achieving food security.
For its part, Al-Raya newspaper noted the international praises for Qatar's success in organizing the FIFA World Cup 2022, which affirms that Qatar has excelled in organizing an unprecedented version of the exceptional World Cup on all scales.
The paper said that the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 is still the world's talk due to the unparalleled excitement and enthusiasm that the tournament has seen, pointing out that it is the best edition in terms of safety, respect of values and morals, and appropriation for families. Everyone in Qatar and abroad is enjoying the 2022 edition of the World Cup, thanks to the well organization that Qatar has been working on for 12 years, the paper added.
The World Cup fans are now experiencing a unique touristic experience thanks to the ease of transportation and the diversity of cultural, tourism and entertainment events, which are seen through the festive atmosphere in the Qatari markets, the fan zones, the Corniche, and the stadiums, as well as the public transportation mobiles, the paper added.
Al-Raya concluded its editorial by saying that Qatar has won the bet, and now it is proceeding confidently towards the final match at Lusail Stadium on Dec. 18, to bring down the curtains on the most successful tournament among the previous editions. The FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 will remain in everyone's memory, coinciding with the State of Qatar's celebration of its National Day, which comes under the slogan 'Our Unity Source of Our Strength,' in a message to the world to unite in facing challenges and benefit from the power of sports and its positive impact on everyone, the paper added.
For its part, the English-language Gulf Times newspaper said that Qatar continues to win the hearts and minds of fans from across the world apart from earning acclaim for its organizational brilliance, adding that the country has made a lot of achievements to be proud of, starting from the modern stadiums and the remarkable security arrangements facilitating a crime-free environment to an public transport network.
Under the title 'World Cup Qatar 2022 Sets New Standards for Organizational Excellence,' the paper noted the extensive preparation and strong collaboration with stakeholders that helped Qatar to deliver smooth transport operations for fans, teams and officials, explaining that the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) and countrywide partners have worked closely over recent years to organize seamless transport options.
International fans were encouraged to use the Doha Metro and shuttle bus services to attend matches and visit entertainment sites, while local residents were advised to drive, the paper added, pointing out that the transportation sector will achieve more records during the last week of the World Cup.
For its part, The Peninsula newspaper said that first World Cup in the Arab world began with a shock, Saudi Arabia defeating Argentina in a first round game, while Morocco defeated Portugal on Saturday to become the first country in Africa and the Arab world to ever reach the semifinals.
Under the title 'Morocco Makes History,' the paper said that Morocco's victory is of great importance to football, not only in Africa or the Middle East and North Africa region, but in the whole world, especially since this achievement was made in the first World Cup held in the Middle East region.
The Peninsula concluded its editorial by saying that, as Arab societies that face many political and social challenges, we need something that amplifies our feelings of hope, indicating that football does this. (QNA)
