Doha, December 23 (QNA) - In their editorials on Friday, the Qatari newspapers highlighted the great role played by the various security agencies in Qatar in securing the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, affirming that the Qatari security dealt with great professionalism in managing this huge global event in all respects to make the World Cup safer and more secure, with the recognition of several prestigious international bodies and the testimony of the fans and guests of the World Cup. The newspapers pointed out to the meeting of HE Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani on Thursday with members of the security committee and the entities participating in securing the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 tournament, during which His Excellency valued their appreciated efforts in securing and organizing the tournament, and congratulated them for the historic achievement made by the tournament. The newspaper pointed out that Qatar was working with wisdom, sophistication and a multidimensional vision during its security preparations for the World Cup, through which it embodied its philosophy in developing its security cadres that assumed this national mission, and built its regional and international partnerships to benefit from expertise and experience. Al-Watan affirmed that the determination of the Qatari people and residents on this land was the main guarantee for securing the championship, so that Qatar proves once again that it is the safest in the world, and most deserving of hosting this global event, which received wide international praise after its appearance in the best way, in all aspects, whether organizational, technical or security. For its part, Al-Sharq newspaper affirmed in its editorial today, which was titled "Thanks and Appreciation" that the Tournament Security Committee and all the parties involved in securing the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 have proven that everyone was up to the responsibility for their keenness to achieve the highest levels of security and safety by providing a safe atmosphere for fans and guests from all over the world. The newspaper said in a related context that much of the credit for the great success of the global event is due to the role played by the Security Committee, the coordination, cooperation and the integration of roles between all parties related to the security of the World Cup, in addition to the professional organization, which was reflected in the continuous praise of the Qatar World Cup, which was exceptional and unique Al Sharq concluded by saying that the thanks and appreciation received by the security committee and the parties involved in securing and organizing the tournament from HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, is a medal of pride that they absolutely deserved, just as Qatar World Cup definitely deserved the title of the safest tournament in the history of the World Cup. On the other hand, the English-language newspaper The Peninsula highlighted in its editorial the great role played by the transport sector by ensuring a smooth experience for the World Cup fans, which helped them reach their places of residence, tourist attractions in central Doha and follow the tournament matches without any complications. Under the title" Qatar 2022: Dream Turned Into Reality", the newspaper mentioned that the free transportation and visas without discrimination enabled hundreds of thousands of people from countries of the world to enter the country with the Hayya card, noting that Qatar allowed all holders of this card to use free transportation. The Peninsula said that the public transit system transported nearly 26.8 million passengers, and more than 18.416 million passengers were transported by Doha Metro, Lusail Tram, Education City Tram, and Msheireb Tram. The newspaper pointed out that the transportation sector also set remarkable record numbers in all its services throughout the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. With no interruption and a peaceful manner, the sector transported fans from stadiums to fan zones, markets and different places in the country, noting that Qatar also made good on its promise to provide easy and reliable access to transportation for people in wheelchairs. The Peninsula noted that as a first in the history of the FIFA World Cup, almost 900 e-buses were deployed to ferry fans, which reduced the event’s carbon footprint. The newspaper concluded by saying that the tournament was a resounding success, with impressive attendance figures of over 3.4 million fans throughout the 64 matches.
