Qatari Newspapers Editorials
Doha, January 23 (QNA) - In their Monday's editorials, Qatari newspapers dealt with a number of local, Arab and international issues, as it highlighted the interest of the State of Qatar in the health sector, which achieved significant progress in the past few years in terms of developing treatment facilities and expanding health services, which reflects the firm commitment of the wise leadership to provide the best health services in Qatar.
In another local matter, the newspapers pointed out that Qatar has emerged as a promising center for waste management in the Middle East and North Africa region, as the country's National Environment and Climate Change Strategy seeks to make it a cleaner, greener and more sustainable country for current and future generations.
On Arab developments, the newspapers emphasized the firm position of the State of Qatar towards Libyans, which is based on supporting the political process in Libya under the leadership of the United Nations.
As for international issues, the newspapers noted the great international and Islamic condemnation of the Swedish authorities, which allowed the burning of a copy of the Holy Qur’an in front of the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Stockholm, adding that this incident is an act of incitement and a serious provocation to the feelings of more than two billion Muslims in the world.
In its editorial, Al-Raya newspaper said that the State of Qatar continues to upgrade the health sector in order to provide the best health services to the people of Qatar, as part of Qatar National Vision 2030.
In this regard, the newspaper noted the inauguration of Umm Al Seneem Health Center in Ain Khalid by HE Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani, adding that HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior toured the new health center where he was briefed on its various facilities, sections and medical units, and listened to an explanation about the various medical services and health care provided to patients and visitors.
The newspaper stressed that the State of Qatar became a leader in recent years in providing integrated health care, as health represents a main pillar of Qatar National Vision 2030, which puts people at the top of its priorities. The past years were full of a wide range of projects that included health facilities which provided a major leap in the level of services and health care, the newspaper said, adding that Qatar has worked to develop a sustainable health system.
Al-Raya concluded its editorial by saying that the opening of Umm Al Seneem Health Center reflects the focus on ensuring the provision of high-quality health care services to all members of society, in implementation of the strategic plans aimed at meeting the health needs of the population near their places of residence. With the opening of the Umm Al Seneem Health Center, the number of Health centers of the Primary Health Care Corporation reached 30 centers distributed in various regions of the country in order to provide high-quality health services to all.
In turn, the Peninsula noted the National Environment and Climate Change Strategy in the State of Qatar, which seeks to make it a cleaner, greener and more sustainable nation for the present and future generations.
In its editorial, the newspaper said that the strategy identifies five environmental priorities: reducing greenhouse emissions, restoring biodiversity, establishing sustainable water management system, improving waste management and building a circular economy, and enhancing land use productivity.
It stated that the Ministry of Municipality launched an Integrated National Solid Waste Management Programme in June 2022, which targets an integrated development of all facilities and systems for collecting, transporting and managing solid waste following principles of circular economy and Qatar National Vision 2030.
The newspaper pointed out that the Domestic Solid Waste Management Centre in Mesaieed is contributing greatly in achieving the strategic goals of the circular economy and waste management, adding that the Centre run by the Ministry of Municipality generated 271,378 MW of electricity through converting waste into energy in 2022.
The Peninsula concluded by noting that the country has implemented many initiatives and events to raise awareness about environment and reduce waste, adding that the Ministry of Municipality has announced the launch of a ‘Zero Waste’ competition as part of Zero Waste Campaign in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education to encourage students to create new ways to dispose waste, recycle and protect natural resources.
Qatari daily Al-Sharq highlighted Qatar's firm stance in support of the brotherly Libyan people to achieve their aspirations for stability, unity, development and prosperity.
Al-Sharq underlined that the State of Qatar supports the UN-led political process in Libya and all efforts that aim at reaching a permanent political solution that preserve Libya's sovereignty, territorial integrity, stability and security.
In this context, Al-Sharq highlighted the participation of HE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi in the consultative meeting of the Arab Foreign Ministers, which was held in Tripoli yesterday at the invitation of the State of Libya. His Excellency reiterated Qatar's call on all Libyan parties to adopt dialogue and wisdom to overcome differences and create an appropriate atmosphere to hold the presidential and legislative elections.
Al-Sharq emphasized Qatar's keenness on strengthening cooperation and joint Arab action to achieve the interests of the Arab people and support security and stability, and the urgent need for consultation, collaboration and coordination on the interests of the Arab nation amidst the current delicate circumstances facing the region.
Qatari newspaper Al-Watan condemned the Swedish authorities' permission to burn a copy of the Holy Qur'an in front of the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Stockholm, calling it an act of incitement and a serious provocation of the feelings of more than two billion Muslims.
Al-Watan noted that the State of Qatar expressed its total rejection of all forms of hate speech based on belief, race or religion; and warned that hatred campaigns against Islam and the discourse of Islamophobia have witnessed a dangerous escalation amidst the continued systematic calls for the repeated targeting of Muslims in the world.
In conclusion, Al-Watan called on the international community to assume its responsibilities to stop such unacceptable acts, reject all forms of hatred and extremism, hold the perpetrators accountable, work not to link politics and religion, spread the values of dialogue, tolerance and peaceful coexistence among peoples, and prevent any form of abuse of all monotheistic religions and their sanctities by such extremist practices that are inconsistent with the values of respect for the other, freedom of belief, and basic human rights and freedoms.
