Qatari Newspapers Editorials

Doha, January 25 (QNA) - In Wednesday's editorial, Qatari newspapers highlighted the importance of science and education to the State of Qatar, based on its belief that education is the key to development, as the wise leadership prioritizes human development as the main source of progress. The newspapers stressed that the Community College of Qatar (CCQ) became an essential tributary of the great national investment in the field of human development, contributing to the educational goals set by the Qatar National Vision 2030. All newspapers agreed that Qatar's interest in education is because it realizes that the basis for achieving development and immunizing societies from crime, terrorism, poverty and ignorance comes from the existence of good, fair and sustainable education without any conditions. In its editorial, Al-Sharq newspaper said that HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani attended the graduation ceremony of 11th batch of the Community College of Qatar (CCQ) students (Class of 2022) and honored outstanding graduates. The newspaper explained that the presence of HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior at the event reflects the interest of the wise leadership and its firm belief in investing in people by providing appropriate education for all. It said that celebrating the graduation of a new batch of 929 male and female students from CCQ armed with knowledge to serve country in various fields coincided with the celebration of the International Day of Education, which focus on calling the countries of the world to unite in order to reach sustainable societies. Al-Sharq noted the State's keenness, represented by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, to achieve the goals of the International Day of Education by improving and developing the educational level in its various stages by providing an educational environment that encourages students to be creative and innovative in academics and science, in addition to exceptional attention to students with special needs and gifted students, as well as adults. The newspaper concluded its editorial by saying that the efforts made by the State of Qatar in the field of education culminated in its attainment of advanced positions in the education quality index at the Arab and international levels, thanks to the provision of suitable and good education opportunities for all members of society through the continuous development the educational system in the country is witnessing. In turn, Al-Watan newspaper said, in its editorial, that HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani attended the graduation ceremony of 11th batch of the Community College of Qatar (CCQ) students (Class of 2022) and honored outstanding graduates, while CCQ's President presented the certificates to the 929 graduates of various disciplines. It said that CCQ became an essential tributary of the great national investment in the field of human development, contributing to the educational goals set by the Qatar National Vision 2030 by providing a variety of educational opportunities, including academic programs capable of preparing students according to the highest standards by offering a number of associate diploma and bachelor's degree programs that meet the needs of the labor market in the State of Qatar. It pointed out that CCQ witnessed since its inauguration in 2010 continuous prosperity and growth, which enabled it to be a model of academic excellence among higher education institutions in the country and a pioneer in providing unique and diverse educational opportunities for a large segment of students. The newspaper explained that the College was able to offer diversified, specialized, and high-quality academic programs, becoming an important source of qualified Qatari personnel. It also enabled students to achieve their aspirations and goals and actively participate in achieving the goals of comprehensive national development, the newspaper added. Al-Watan concluded by saying that with those graduates, the College makes another valuable contribution in the field of human development and assists in achieving the educational goals for the benefit of the nation. For its part, Al-Raya newspaper said that the State of Qatar has focused on providing education not only for its citizens and residents but to millions of children who were deprived of this right due to poverty, armed conflicts, insecurity and disasters, through adopting international and regional initiatives aimed at providing quality education, based on its belief that providing education for all is an inherent right which has a great importance in developing societies and addressing global crises. Qatar believes that education is the pillar that enables nations to rise, address their crises and solve them. In this context, HE Minister of Social Development and the Family Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad affirmed, on International Education Day, that Qatar acknowledges the importance of education, explaining that the Ministry attaches great importance to providing all the technical, artistic, and human tools necessary to allow people with disabilities to enjoy this right too as they are an integral part of society, the paper explained. The newspaper stressed Qatar's belief that access to quality, equitable and sustainable education is a fundamental pillar for achieving sustainable and comprehensive development, security and stability. Qatar works with its international partners to support pioneering initiatives to ensure comprehensive, equitable, and quality education, and enhance lifelong learning opportunities for all. Education, as Qatar realized, is the basis for achieving development and protecting societies from crime, terrorism, poverty, and ignorance. HE Assistant Foreign Minister Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater confirmed that quality and accessible education for all is at the top of Qatar's priorities. The country has devoted USD 2.3 billion to its development partners for educational aid and supports more than 60 countries and 16 million students to receive high-quality education and continues to play major roles in the development and provision of education regionally and internationally. Al-Raya concluded its editorial by saying that Qatar has become the focus of the world's attention due to its pioneering initiatives. Qatar was, and still is, a pioneer in providing humanity with creative initiatives that contribute to global development and human rights. It has directed its pioneering efforts toward fragile and vulnerable societies such as refugees and the poor, reflected in the efforts of the Qatar Fund for Development through its implementing strategic partner, Education Above All Foundation, which aims to increase access to quality education for children and youth who are out of school and to build the potential of young people and empower them by teaching them relevant skills for lifelong success. In another matter, the English-language newspaper The Peninsula highlighted the activities held as part of the ‘Feel Winter in Qatar’ campaign, which aims to host many such events and activities from January to March during the pleasant winter months to attract more international visitors to Qatar. In its editorial entitled "Winter Tourism", the newspaper said that the organization of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 helped the country set up world-class infrastructure and upgrade the entertainment and cultural hotspots. This will surely give an impetus to the tourism industry as Qatar Tourism aims to welcome six million visitors annually by 2030. The ‘Feel Winter in Qatar’ campaign could bring in many visitors from the region with its various offers like kite surfing and tennis tournaments where the world’s top stars will participate, food festival, jewelry exhibition, equestrian events, and live entertainment, the paper said. The Peninsula concluded its editorial by noting that all these events plus other top sporting activities like Formula One and the 2023 AFC Asian Cup, a well-connected airline, and a top-notch airport will surely bring millions of visitors to Doha.
