Doha, October 10 (QNA) - The Qatari newspapers published Monday highlighted Qatar's preparations and readiness in all fields to host the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 held from Nov. 20 to Dec. 18. The papers stressed that sports fans around the world are promised an exceptional and unprecedented version of the tournament characterized by its fun and dazzling with generosity and warm reception, due to the services and facilities prepared by the State of Qatar for its guests.
The newspapers also highlighted the inauguration of the Unified Medical Center of the Security and Safety Operations Committee of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 (SSOC) at the Lekhwiya Force headquarters, as the latest indication of the extent of readiness to host this major sporting event.
The papers unanimously agreed that the State of Qatar, which is preparing to host the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, continues its efforts to promote the values of freedom, justice, and equality and spread the culture of dialogue, peaceful coexistence, and the concept of the constitutional state, and looks at hosting this major event as a valuable opportunity to promote the values of equality, solidarity and mutual respect.
In its editorial, Al-Sharq newspaper said that Qatar's preparations and readiness in all fields to host the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, held from Nov. 20 to Dec. 18, reflects that global sports fans are promised an exceptional and unprecedented version of the tournament characterized by its fun and dazzling with generosity and warm reception, due to the services prepared by the State of Qatar for its guests.
As the World Cup is expected to attract 2 million fans from around the world, Doha completed its arrangements regarding securing the tournament in cooperation and coordination with partners to provide the highest level of safety, comfort and welcome for visitors, in one of the world's safest countries, the paper said.
In this context, the paper referred to the Qatar Amiri Air Force at Dukhan Airbase's reception of the joint Qatar-UK Typhoon Squadron (12 Squadron), as part of the cooperation between Qatar and the UK to secure the skies during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
The paper also noted Qatar's cooperation with many brotherly and friendly countries, most notably the US, as coordination continues between the State of Qatar and the West Virginia National Guard in preparation for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and with the US Central Command to coordinate planning joint operations, protocols and procedures for stadium security. The Security and Safety Operations Committee of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 affirmed that the preparations have taken place to reassure and enhance the security of the World Cup in all aspects, it added.
Al-Sharq concluded by emphasizing that the State of Qatar has confirmed its readiness by completing all arrangements related to the security of this major global event, which is being held for the first time in a Middle Eastern country, especially since the State of Qatar occupies a leading position in the Middle East and North Africa region in the Global Peace Index, which reflects the level of security and safety in the country. The report confirmed that Qatar remains the safest country in the Middle East and North Africa for the 15th year in a row, and it is among the 25 safest countries in the world.
As part of preparations to secure the safety of the World Cup, Al-Watan newspaper noted in its editorial HE Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior (MOI) and Commander of Lekhwiya Force, Maj. Gen. Abdul Aziz bin Faisal Al-Thani's inauguration on Sunday of the Unified Medical Center of the Security and Safety Operations Committee of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 (SSOC), saying that this is the latest sign of readiness to host this major sporting event.
The center will provide primary health care to the committee's attributes from government agencies, namely MOI, Ministry of Defense, and Lekhwiya Force, as well as to participants in securing the championship from sisterly and friendly countries, according to international standards of high-quality primary medical care in a safe environment, and the speedy delivery of the decisions of medical affiliates to the manpower unit, as well as coordination with the championship operations command center and the supervisory office of sisterly and friendly countries regarding the medical aspect. Through the five outpatient clinics in the residences of the sisterly and friendly forces, and various medical specialties, the center would provide a wide range of other week-long services including pharmacy, radiology, and laboratory.
Al-Watan said that the inauguration of this center came days after the unveiling of the new Security Force's official uniform, vehicles, and mechanism for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, after a strenuous two years through a committee that was formed to produce an exceptional and unprecedented uniform for the security force, which attracts the fans and simultaneously preserving the security identity and character. The MOI's great achievements confirmed that it is capable, with other bodies, to ensure the security of the tournament completely and appropriately, reflecting Qatar’s exceptional capabilities.
For its part, Al-Raya newspaper confirmed in its editorial under the title "Protecting Workers is Qatari Commitment" that the State of Qatar, which is preparing to host the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, continues its efforts to promote the values of freedom, justice and equality, and to spread a culture of dialogue, peaceful coexistence and the concept of a constitutional state.
The newspaper said that Qatar has developed its legislation in order to preserve human and workers rights, promote tolerance and peace, and eliminate racism, discrimination and related intolerance, as well as to promote respect of cultural diversity as means to prevent racism and racial discrimination.
Qatar also ensures the implementation and protection of basic human rights for all workers in the World Cup projects, the paper said, noting that the country considers hosting this major event as a valuable opportunity to promote the values of equality, solidarity and mutual respect. There is no doubt that the World Cup will leave a great legacy in the State of Qatar and the world, as it will promote the rights of migrant workers by placing them all under the umbrella of the law, enabling them to take legal procedures to obtain their rights and punishing any party that intends to infringe their rights, it said.
The paper added that the State of Qatar continues to emphasize the centrality of human rights in general, and the rights of migrant workers specifically within the plans and strategies of the State of Qatar and its National Vision 2030, away from press clippings and catching headlines.
Additionally, Al-Raya underlined that the State of Qatar has witnessed wide-ranging developments at the legislative and institutional levels, and at the levels of policies and strategies that aimed at strengthening the human rights infrastructure, pointing out that Qatar has adopted a series of pioneering legislative and institutional reforms in the region on the protection of the rights of expatriate workers, which led to the abolition of the Kafala (sponsorship) system and the improvement of working conditions and decent living conditions for all workers and to create a safe and balanced work environment, in accordance with international labor standards.
Al-Raya concluded its editorial by saying that the efforts of the State of Qatar in this regard are still ongoing, and the national action plan for human rights will give powers and a strong presence to law enforcement agencies competent to combat human trafficking in the country, and will enhance the achievements on the ground, because Qatar occupies a prominent position at the level of the world seeks to preserve and protect workers’ rights through binding legislation, so that Qatar will become a great example for the rest of the region and the world.
Under the title "Demonstrating Sincere Dedication", The Peninsula newspaper stressed that Qatar has been making efforts for years to implement long-term strategy for protecting the environment and achieving sustainable development that improve the quality of life of the people in the country.
The Peninsula said that Qatar's efforts to protect the environment are the implementation of a comprehensive urban development plan, effective and directed investment in infrastructure projects that have been reflected in the accreditation of all municipalities of Qatar recently, as all have received the title of ‘Healthy Cities’ by World Health Organization (WHO).
This achievement was outcome of implementing the Qatar National Vision 2030 which emphasizes the significance of conserving the environment and natural resources by incorporating environmental sustainability as one of the four pillars to achieve sustainable development.
The newspaper highlighted statements made by HE Minister of Environment and Climate Change Sheikh Dr. Faleh bin Nasser bin Ahmed bin Ali Al-Thani during the launch of Qatar Sustainability Week 2022, in which he stressed the importance of working together to achieve the local ambitions in the area of sustainable development, adding that public and private sectors, including non-profit organizations, educational institutions and all community individuals should plan and constantly work by focusing on the conservation of Qatar’s environment and make the country as a secure and healthy place for living, in addition to working for the current and future generations.
The Peninsula concluded its editorial by noting that Sustainability Week is a societal initiative that primarily highlighted through the practical obligation of Qatar to work collectively, as HE the Minister pointed out that the sustainability Week will bring hundreds of companies and enterprises to work together over the week to demonstrate their dedication to supporting the sustainability efforts in Qatar.
