Doha, October 12 (QNA) - Qatari newspapers highlighted in their editorials on Wednesday the state visit of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to the Republic of Kazakhstan, which constitutes a major push in developing the relations between the two countries at all levels and fields. The Qatari dailies also praised HH the Amir's participation, alongside Their Highnesses and Excellencies leaders of member states and heads of governments and regional and international organizations, in the sixth summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) in Kazakhstan, which has a positive contribution to promoting peace and sustainable development in Asia.
Locally, the newspapers highlighted the successive achievements in the State of Qatar's health sector, noting the inauguration of the new Al Khor Health Center by HE Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani on Tuesday; and the national accreditation status which was awarded to the Ministry of Public Health by the US Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB), making Qatar the first country to receive such accreditation outside the United States.
The newspapers also shed light on the new package of programs presented yesterday by the Qatar Research Development and Innovation Council (QRDI) with the aim of stimulating an innovation based on technology development, as the State continues to develop the national operating model that supports innovation, and implements the QFDI 2030 Strategy which is one of the important pillars of Qatar's future economy that is based on innovation and knowledge.
Under its editorial entitled "Qatar and Kazakhstan", Al-Sharq newspaper said that the arrival of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to the capital of the friendly Republic of Kazakhstan, Astana, to participate with Their Highnesses and Excellencies leaders of member states, and heads of governments, regional and international organizations in the sixth summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), highlights the importance that His Highness attaches to the conference for its positive contribution to promoting peace and sustainable development in Asia, as well as the strong diplomatic relations between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Kazakhstan, dating back 30 years and have made great strides towards a strategic partnership thanks to the common political will.
The newspaper stated that the Qatar-Kazakhstan Joint Higher Committee, established in 1998, held five sessions, the last of which was in February 2020. The higher committee played an important role in raising the level of bilateral relations to a strategic partnership by encouraging investment in different sectors and building bridges of communication between businessmen in Qatar and Kazakhstan, the leading country in Central Asia.
The newspaper concluded by saying that the keenness of HH the Amir and HE President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to upgrade bilateral relations to a strategic partnership and the joint coordination to ensure peace and stability in Asia and the world is evident in the mutual visits. His Highness' visit comes after the visit of HE President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Doha last June, where HE participated in the Qatar Economic Forum.
Meanwhile, English-language newspaper The Peninsula highlighted in its editorial entitled "Qatar, Kazakhstan Cement Ties" the bilateral relations between the State of Qatar and Kazakhstan. The paper noted that the diplomatic relations were established on July 1, 1993, and since then, both nations have cooperated in many fields and have developed strong bilateral relations based on mutual trust and respect.
The state visit of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to Kazakhstan will only cement these ties further and see more cooperation in various fields, including political, economic, cultural, and humanitarian, the paper said.
The bilateral trade between the country saw a significant boost after Qatar Airways started direct flights to Kazakhstan last year. The Kazakh officials are confident that the connectivity will also help in attracting more investments into the country from Qatar and they are hopeful to see more interest from Qatari businessmen in agricultural, energy, and mining fields, the paper added.
In conclusion, The Peninsula affirmed that with the latest visit by HH the Amir, the existing ties will get stronger and bilateral relations will prosper benefitting the people of both nations.
In an editorial highlighting the successive achievements made by the health sector in the State of Qatar, Qatari daily Al-Watan noted the inauguration of the new Al Khor Health Center by HE Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani yesterday. The new heath center works under the umbrella of the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) with a capacity of 50 thousand patients.
Referring to other accomplishments, Al-Watan added that the Ministry of Public Health has been awarded the national accreditation status of the US Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB), making Qatar the first country to receive such accreditation outside the United States. This recognition is based on International High-Quality Standards meeting strict criteria for the Public Health practice that is provided according to the International Level.
The paper noted that the accreditation of public health services in the State of Qatar comes a few weeks ahead of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, marking the first time in the history of the FIFA World Cup that a tournament is held in a country that has received international accreditation for its public health services which boosts confidence in in the application of the best public health standards during the tournament, including emergency health, mass security and other public health services.
The accomplishments achieved by the State of Qatar before the FIFA World Cup, scheduled to kickstart in less than 40 days, demonstrate the State's full readiness to welcome the fans to enjoy one of the most exceptional and successful World Cup editions in history, Al-Watan stressed.
For its part, Qatari daily Al-Raya underlined that Qatar National Vision 2030 gives a prominent priority to research, development and innovation as an essential basis for an easy transformation into a knowledge-based economy that is based on technology leadership and innovation.
The State of Qatar had recognized the importance of this field early. Accordingly, the State has started the implementation of its strategy for research, development and innovation (QRDI 2030). In this context, The Qatar Research Development and Innovation Council (QRDI) presented yesterday a new package of programs to stimulate innovation based on technology development, as the State continues to develop the national operating model that supports innovation, and implements the QFDI 2030 Strategy which is one of the important pillars of Qatar's future economy that is based on innovation and knowledge, Al-Raya said.
Al-Raya added that the State of Qatar has embarked on implementing its vision for research, development and innovation, and has made important strides in order to transform it from ideas into reality. Qatar Open Innovation Program, in its first edition for 2022, presented broad prospects for a group of national institutions towards benefiting from the early adoption of innovative technology in Qatar in order to develop their operational efficiency and enhance their competitiveness regionally and globally.
The State of Qatar seeks to be a global incubator platform for emerging technology companies that rely on technology innovation to achieve their growth, by stimulating the establishment of a promising market for early adoption opportunities for technology developed in Qatar, in a manner that enhances the demand for the innovation and scientific research system and stimulates the participation of local companies that are based on research and experimental development; as well as supporting startups incubated by local universities in order to localize talent and specialists in the field of innovation in the business sector, and opening the door for universities to use more of these talents in startups incubated by local universities, with the aim of strengthening the strategic directions towards building an economy based on innovation and knowledge, Al-Raya added.
