Doha, October 23 (QNA) - Qatari newspapers highlighted in their editorials Sunday the inauguration of the 2022 Qatar National Day slogan "Our Unity Source of Our Strength" which is excerpted from a speech by HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani.
The Qatari dailies noted the significance of the National Day slogan this year as it coincides with Qatar's hosting of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, which will be held for the first time in the Arab region and the Middle East. The World Cup final will be held on December 18 which is Qatar National Day, the start of a new chapter of the State's journey as an active and positive country in the region and the world.
The papers also shed light on the preparations carried out by the State's official and private institutions to engage in the activities of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 with programs full of cultural, artistic and entertainment events to the fans. The papers agreed the tournament will constitute a great opportunity for introducing the Arab world to fans from all over the world, noting that the presence of four Arab teams among the strongest 32 teams worldwide represents a distinct addition to the tournament.
In its editorial titled "Our Unity Source of Our Strength", Qatari newspaper Al-Sharq said that the celebration organized yesterday to inaugurate the 2022 Qatar National Day "Our Unity Source of Our Strength", which is excerpted from a speech by HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, embodies the values of solid cohesion between the leadership and the people, and the strong and unique community fabric in the State of Qatar.
The paper underlined that the celebration of the National Day this year, which slogan was inaugurated by HE Minister of Culture and Chairman of the Organizing Committee for Qatar National Day (QND) Celebrations Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al-Thani, has a new significance as it coincides with Qatar's hosting of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, since such celebrations reflect the culture, traditions and hospitality of this generous country.
Celebrating Qatar National Day this year comes amidst extraordinary occasion, which raises the level of challenges for the organizers who are keen to make this celebration an occasion to highlight the national identity and the bright aspects of the Qatari history and heritage, as well as its belief in cultural interaction and pride in the Arab and Islamic values for the visitors during the World Cup, Al-Sharq concluded.
For its part, Qatari daily Al-Raya believed that the slogan of 2022 Qatar National Day "Our Unity Source of Our Strength", which is excerpted from a speech by HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, affirms the fact that the Qatari people have shown wisdom and chivalry over the decades of the establishment journey.
Al-Raya noted the significance of the National Day slogan this year as it coincides with Qatar's hosting of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, which will be held for the first time in the Arab region and the Middle East. The World Cup final, which will be watched by billions around the world, will be held on December 18 which is Qatar National Day, to participate with the people of Qatar the celebrations of this occasion with which the State will write a new chapter of its journey as an active and positive country in the region and the world seeking the good for all peoples.
The paper pointed to the assertion of HE Minister of Culture and Chairman of the Organizing Committee for Qatar National Day (QND) Celebrations Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al-Thani during the inauguration of the slogan, that the National Day this year is different since its coincides with Qatar's hosting of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, making everyone a Qatari ambassador by the virtue of their values, culture, chivalry and wisdom. HE the Minister also stressed the need for the 2022 slogan to be ever-present and manifested, especially since people from the world over, each with their culture, will come to Qatar on the occasion of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

In its editorial titled "National Day with and Exceptional Slogan", Al-Arab newspaper said that the celebrations of Qatar National Day this years comes amidst an extraordinary state experienced by Qatar, host of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, which requires the slogan of the occasion to be exceptional, confirming that "Our Unity Source of Our Strength" to the guests of the exceptional edition of the World Cup, and showing the cohesion of the Qatari people despite all the circumstances and difficulties that they have gone through in the past and the present.
For the first time the National Day slogan is excerpted from a speech by HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani before the Shura Council, unlike the previous celebrations for 14 years where the slogans were excerpted from speeches of the Founder, Al-Arab said, noting that the slogan "Our Unity Source of Our Strength" reflects the many challenges that the Qatari people have faced since the founding epic and from generation to generation, which revealed a deep awareness of their ability to respond to all adversities that arise, and through their path they were able to strengthen their national unity.
The paper added that the few words of the slogan summarize many positions and stories of the people of Qatar in steadfastness and unity behind the leader of the country in order to build a promising future based on dignity and arming with science and knowledge in all fields, making the solidarity of the members of this community evidence of the sincerity of their love for the homeland.
Al-Arab also highlighted the inauguration of the permanent headquarters of Darb Al Saai in Umm Salal Muhammad with a huge series of events commensurate with the football carnival the country is hosting. The events include more than 4,500 cultural and heritage activities that highlight the culture and identity of the Qatari society to the World Cup guests, to be a valuable opportunity to learn about the history and legacy of Qatar and the difficulties its people had endured to achieve the unity of their nation and celebrate its past and present.
The Qatari daily believed that the National Day has become an exceptional date for major sporting events in the country, as the State sought, through its sports plans, to link between the promotion of the World Cup facilities and stadiums on the one hand, and the State of Qatar with its heritage, civilization and National Day on the other hand.
The slogan of this year’s National Day reinforces and renews the strong bonding, loyalty, belonging and pride in the national identity among the Qatari people to be a proud nation of its heritage based on solidarity and cohesion, and for December 18 to be a day for inspiration from the past, celebration of the present and foreseeing of a promising future that preserves the rich heritage and identity of the country, Al-Arab concluded.
On other hand, Qatari daily Al-Watan shed light on the huge preparations carried out by the State's official and private institutions to engage in the activities of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 with programs full of cultural, artistic and entertainment events to the fans, noting that these activities include festivals, concerts, exhibitions and live shows.
In this context, Al-Watan pointed to the programs announced by Qatar Museums to accompany this global event, which include 17 exhibitions in five museums, 10 high-profile events and three live art festivals. Katara – the Cultural Village Foundation has also announced its activities accompanying Qatar 2022 which include 51 events and 300 sub-events.
The paper also noted the events the will be organized by the Education City and the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy which issued a guide that contains details of the venues and times of the events.
Al-Watan underlined that Qatar World Cup will be accompanied by an enthusiastic atmosphere and exceptional experiences with the participation of the brightest stars and the organization of international shows, amazing destinations, traditional markets, and many more for the fans in Qatar to live unforgettable moments in this tournament, which will be a milestone in the history of football.
In its editorial under the headline "Arab passion", The Peninsula said that many events are being held in the Arab world particularly in the GCC nations to promote the Qatar World Cup where fans have shown their enthusiasm for the upcoming FIFA global showpiece.
The paper said that many believe that Qatar 2022 is the major opportunity for the Arab world to showcase itself to billions of fans all around the world, adding that the presence of four Arabian teams among 32 strongest sides from across the globe will certainly add colours to the tournament as a huge number of fans from these countries are expected to travel to Qatar to back their teams.
Apart from the home side, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, and Morocco will represent the Arabs in the tournament, the paper said, noting that not only for the host country, it will be a home-like atmosphere for Saudi Arabia, Tunisia and Morocco also during the World Cup.
In conclusion, The Peninsula emphasized that Qatar is completely ready to host an outstanding edition of the FIFA showpiece, which is expected to be attended by around 1.2 million fans from all across the globe, adding that Japan, who are scheduled to arrive on Nov. 7, are expected to be the first team to descend on Qatar for the historic World Cup.
On the other hand, Gulf Times newspaper said in its editorial entitled "Solar, so good: Qatar follows the sun to reduce its carbon footprint" said that Qatar's commitment to a low-carbon footprint and renewable energy production has been reflected on the 800MW-peak solar plant in Al Kharsaah.
QatarEnergy is consolidating its position in the renewables business and is delivering amid-term target of generating 5GW of solar power by 2035 as part of its Sustainability Strategy, the paper said.
In addition to increasing solar capacity to over 5GW, the strategy targets reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and deploying carbon capture and storage technology to capture over 11million tonnes per year of CO2 in Qatar by 2035, the paper added.
QatarEnergy also aims to further reduce the carbon intensity of LNG facilities bolstering Qatar's commitment to responsibly supply cleaner LNG at scale in support of the energy transition, the paper pointed out.
Already Qatar has committed big investments to lower the carbon intensity of the country's energy products, which constitute a key pillar of QatarEnergy's sustainability and energy transition strategy, Gulf Times concluded. (QNA)
