Under the title "A big boost for Qatari-European relations," the newspaper confirmed that this step reflects the growing development and the distinguished level reached by the Qatari-European relations, as the agreement to establish the European Union delegation in the State of Qatar was signed and inaugurated last September. These developments also confirm the active and pivotal roles played by the State of Qatar to promote international cooperation at all levels for the good of all peoples, which embodied in an effective Qatari participation in all reliable European institutions and organizations in order to support joint international action in facing the global challenges of humanity as a whole. The newspaper said that among the remarkable developments in the Qatari-European relations, the discussion of exempting Qataris from the Schengen visa, which would enhance joint cooperation and advance the movement of business, tourism, education and other vital sectors of cooperation between the two sides, as the Qatari ambassador to the European Union received the legal document of the proposal to exempt Qataris from the Schengen visa in April 2022. The newspaper stated that the importance of Qatar's participation in this conference, which brings together ministers, policy makers, senior officials and experts from around the world, stems from its role as a major global player in the field of energy, stressing that the conference was an occasion to emphasize Qatar's position, which calls for stopping the ban on the passage of energy or its export or import during the times of political crises, and not to use it as a weapon in conflicts, especially since the world is facing an unprecedented energy crisis due to the Ukraine war, as most countries are experiencing difficulties in providing energy, which has led to an increase in the prices of goods and services and a significant increase in inflation rates. Al-Sharq affirmed that the State of Qatar's conviction remains constant regarding the adoption of a mix of energy sources, which effectively contributes to ensuring sustainable development and achieving security of energy supplies for peoples. The newspaper concluded its editorial by saying that the growth of the use of nuclear energy as a source of energy globally as, at least, the most capable option to respond to the escalation of alternative energy sources, in the foreseeable future, however, the expansion in this direction should be carefully calculated in view of the potential risks, which imposes the importance of strengthening international and regional cooperation with regard to the construction of nuclear power reactors and giving priority to strengthening the role of the International Atomic Energy Agency and the need for full and comprehensive implementation of the Convention on Nuclear Safety and the rest of the relevant agreements and treaties.
