Doha, October 31 (QNA) - In their Monday editorials, Qatari newspapers focused on the launch of the 31st Ordinary Arab Summit to be held in Algeria on Tuesday, amid the difficult circumstances that require everyone to be responsible and search for solutions that will meet the challenges facing the Arab nation. The State of Qatar has always emerged as a major supporter of joint Arab action and Arab solidarity the papers said, noting the State's keenness to participate in Arab summits, believing in the importance of supporting the just causes of the Arab nation, especially the Palestinian cause. Locally, the newspapers noted the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy's inauguration of the first International Consular Services Centre (ICSC), which includes representatives of more than 40 embassies and consulates accredited to the country. The initiative is the first of its kind in the history of the World Cup. It aims to serve the public coming from all over the world to attend the tournament activities and facilitate the communication of fans with all consulates to provide services. In its editorial, Al-Watan newspaper said that Algeria will host on Tuesday the 31st Ordinary Arab Summit, under extremely difficult circumstances and conditions that require everyone to raise their level of responsibility and search for solutions that will meet the challenges. Among these challenges are the Palestinian cause, the Arab-Israeli conflict, ways to enhance joint Arab action, and the deteriorating conditions in many Arab countries. This Summit is held at a time that Arab countries are facing an unprecedented state of chaos that warns of very dangerous repercussions, in addition to the repercussions of the war in Ukraine, COVID-19, widespread poverty, diseases and food crisis affecting everyone, and the absence of any horizon indicating that things may become better, the paper said. In conclusion, Al-Watan indicated that holding the Summit in Algeria is a reason for optimism, given the position this Arab country enjoys among all Arabs. The optimism is based on the magnitude of decisions to the challenges that open a window of hope after years of despair and uncertainty. In turn, Al-Raya newspaper said in its editorial that with the approach of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, to be held for the first time in the Arab region, the 31st Ordinary Arab Summit will be launched in Algeria, after being postponed three times in a row since 2019 due to COVID-19. The Algeria Summit is distinguished as it is will be held before the launch of the largest and most important international sporting event for football for the first time in the Arab world, the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, which will kick off from Nov. 20 to Dec. 18, the paper said. Throughout the tournament, Qatar and the Arab region will be the focus of attention for millions of fans of this beloved sport. Billions of people will watch the World Cup from all over the world for the first time from an Arab land, the paper continued. Al-Raya concluded its editorial by affirming the official and popular Arab welcome to Qatar’s hosting of the World Cup, as Qatar seeks to host the World Cup in the Arab region to build bridges between Arabs and the West and correct stereotypes and misconceptions, through the rapprochement between people to showcase a realistic image of the Arab region, which is rich in its hospitable peoples, arts, heritage and history, and love for football. Under the title "World Cup Qatar 2022... Unique Initiatives", Al-Sharq daily newspaper underlined in its Monday's editorial the opening of the first International Consular Services Centre, which reflects some of the unique initiatives that characterize the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. The paper considered that the establishment of this centre, which includes representatives of more than 40 embassies and consulates accredited by the State, is the first-ever center in the history of World Cup, with the aim of supporting fans from all over the world, to attend the activities of the World Cup Qatar 2022, and facilitating the communication with all consulates, in order to provide all services for the fans and solve any problem they may encounter. The International Consular Services Centre is located in the city and it will provide the fans with contact numbers to communicate with the center at any time to provide all services, Al-Sharq added. The newspaper also said that this initiative comes as an extension of several initiatives that characterize World Cup Qatar 2022, as it is the first World Cup to be held in an Arab country, and the first of its kind environmentally friendly tournament, in terms of convergence of distances between stadiums, which allows fans to easily attend two matches in one day. Al-Sharq concluded its editorial by saying that Qatar's preparations and full readiness to host the World Cup show new initiatives, confirming that the World Cup this time will be a unique and exceptional version in all respects, as Qatar promised since the winning of hosting it. In turn, The Peninsula newspaper highlighted the efforts of the State of Qatar at the diplomatic and humanitarian levels, saying that Qatar has earned a global reputation for its conflict resolution initiatives, humanitarian aid and educational initiatives for those in need worldwide. Under the title "Qatar's humanitarian diplomacy", the paper said that Doha helped establish a national dialogue between the political parties in Lebanon, the Darfur region of Sudan and most recently in Chad, in addition to the US-Taliban talks, pointing out that in August this year, the Chadian parties signed the Doha Peace Agreement, which came as a culmination of the negotiations hosted during the past five months and paved the way for the start of the national dialogue, that aims to achieve comprehensive national reconciliation. Qatar has directed a large part of its international humanitarian assistance towards addressing hunger and food shortages, the paper said, adding that Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) signed an agreement with the World Food Programme to provide a financial contribution of $90 million to secure food assistance to more than 7 million people who are in dire need of food in Yemen. The QFFD also signed an agreement with the Food and Agriculture Organisation to help Somalia improve its resilience in the face of climate change. Besides, the QFFD and the WHO signed a three-year agreement aimed at fighting tropical and other diseases in 49 African countries, the newspaper added. The Peninsula concluded that Qatar Charity with funding from the QFFD has launched an early winter response project in northern Syria to deliver aid to internally displaced persons, meet their basic needs and provide shelter assistance to them. The project aims to mitigate the coming winter's risks that are associated with extremely low temperatures, floods, rainfall and snow. (QNA)
