Qatari Newspapers Editorials

Doha, November 04 (QNA) - The editorials of Qatari newspapers on Friday dealt with a number of different topics, where the newspapers affirmed the diversity and flexibility of the Qatari economy and its ability to face challenges, based on the international credit rating agency "Moody’s" raising the future outlook of the State of Qatar from stable to positive, in a new testimony to the strength and diversification of the economy of the State of Qatar and its enjoyment of an attractive and stimulating investment environment for business.
The editorials of the newspapers also dealt with the completion of preparations for the start of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, as the world will be on a date with an exceptional and unique World Cup, to be held for the first time in an Arab and Middle Eastern country, affirming that Qatar has not been affected by the malicious campaigns that it has been subjected to since winning the honor of organizing the World Cup.
On another matter, the newspapers considered that the agreement between the Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and the Tigray Peoples' Liberation Front (TPLF) to stop hostilities constitutes an important step in putting an end to the confrontations between Addis Ababa and the Tigray Front militants, which led to the displacement of more than two million people.
In its editorial, Al-Raya newspaper stressed that the Qatari economy is resilient and strong, rather, it leads the region's economies in terms of growth, given that it is built on solid foundations and solid foundations, and it has become more diversified thanks to the full support it enjoys from the wise leadership, which assigned the government to provide all facilities to maintain its leadership.
Al-Raya added that Moody’s Investor Service has raised the State of Qatar’s credit outlook from stable to positive, and reaffirmed its rating as Aa3 because of the improved performance of its public debt management, as the rating affirmation is supported by several strengths embedded in Qatar's credit profile, which underpin the State’s demonstrated capacity to absorb shocks and longer-term credit challenges. These strengths include Qatar’s exceptionally high level of per-capita income, its vast hydrocarbon reserves and low extraction costs, the government’s robust net asset position, and its established track record of effective macroeconomic and fiscal management.
The newspaper stressed that the Qatari economy is the strongest, most developed and stable in the region, and this is confirmed by the language of numbers that put Qatar at the forefront of the countries in the region, and in advanced ranks at the global level in terms of the strength and durability of the economy, as well as a safe and attractive destination for foreign investments, Qatar has been able to maintain its position as one of the fastest growing economies in the world, with an abundance of investment opportunities in many sectors, which reflects the progressive policies and financial and legislative reforms recently adopted by Qatar that had a tangible positive impact.
Under the title "An exceptional World Cup", Al-Watan newspaper said that all the organizational arrangements for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 have been completed as planned by all the parties involved in organizing the global event, whose competitions will start on Nov. 20, 2022.
It also noted the announcement by the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy that non-ticketed fans can enter the State of Qatar after the conclusion of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Group Stage without requiring a match ticket to enjoy the unique tournament atmosphere with teams and fans in the country, pointing out that this step will contribute to the entry of many fans to Qatar and live a wonderful World Cup experience, after the distinguished programs and events that were prepared throughout the days of the World Cup until the final day on Dec. 18, 2022.
Al-Watan added that there is almost complete consensus that the world will be on a date with an exceptional and unique World Cup, which will be held for the first time in an Arab and Middle Eastern country, affirming that the State of Qatar was not affected by the malicious campaigns that it has been subjected to since winning the honor of organizing the World Cup, and did not discourage it from moving forward in preparing to organize the tournament and make it a success.
For its part, the English-language newspaper "The Peninsula" said in its Friday editorial that Development projects in Qatar have attracted large number of expatriate workers from all over the world, noting that the managing of their affairs and making efforts to create conducive work environment and decent living conditions have taken a great deal of attention from the State and Qatari society. The State has carried out many legal reforms, monitoring and inspection works in order to protect the rights of the expatriate workers within the framework of a comprehensive development vision considering labors partners in the development process that has changed all aspects of life in Qatar. Qatar opened the doors for all international organizations to see the pioneering experience in improving labour legislation and its implementation mechanisms.
The newspaper pointed out to what was confirmed by HE Minister of Labor Dr. Ali bin Smaikh Al Marri, regarding Qatar's serious dealing with all constructive proposals with regard to improving and upgrading the work environment in line with the main principles of Qatar National Vision 2030, noting that the Minister of Labor affirmed that the labor reforms implemented during the past ten years made Qatar one of the pioneering countries at the level of work in adopting a sustainable approach to improving and upgrading the work environment, even after the organization of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
The newspaper alluded to the statements of Vice President of the European Parliament (EP) Eva Kaili, who affirmed the great progress achieved by Qatar in the field of the labor market and added citing ILO office in Qatar, that "Qatar could be a role model for the countries of the region and beyond in that field".
On the other hand, Al-Sharq newspaper, in its editorial today, touched on the agreement between the Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and the Tigray Peoples' Liberation Front (TPLF) to stop hostilities constitutes an important step in putting an end to the confrontations between Addis Ababa and the Tigray Front militants, which led to the displacement of more than two million people.
The newspaper considered that the agreement also represents a decisive first step towards ending the devastating two-year conflict, which has claimed many lives and led to large-scale displacement, suffering and destruction. It opens the door to facilitating humanitarian access and protecting civilians, especially after the two parties agreed to enhance cooperation with humanitarian relief agencies, work to establish law and order, restore services and unhindered access to humanitarian materials, and protect civilians.
In this regard, Al-Sharq noted the State of Qatar's welcome of this agreement and considering it a living example of the efficacy of peaceful solutions in settling disputes, and an important step towards achieving sustainable peace in Ethiopia, expressing its full appreciation for the efforts of the African Union in sponsoring the negotiations, and for the role of the Republic of South Africa in hosting it.
The newspaper concluded its editorial by saying that the agreement boosts hopes that the end of the conflict is near and looming, after two years of fighting that claimed thousands of lives, to begin a new era for Ethiopia, as it constitutes a strong impetus for efforts to promote peace, security and stability on the African continent, and in particular in the Horn of Africa.
