Qatari Newspapers Editorials

Doha, November 14 (QNA) - In their Monday editorials, Qatari newspapers covered various topics, most notably, the condemnation of the bombing that took place in Taksim Square in the center of Istanbul in the Republic of Turkey that led to deaths and dozens of injuries. During HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani's phone call with HE President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan, HH affirmed that the State of Qatar stands by Turkey and its brotherly people, fully supporting all the measures it takes to maintain its security and stability and reiterating the State of Qatar's firm position on rejecting violence, terrorism, and targeting civilians and innocents, the papers noted. In another matter, the newspapers indicated that the International Labour Organization (ILO) issued a report in early November revealing the great shift that the Qatari labor market has witnessed during the past few years after the legislation adopted by the government to reform the labor sector entered into force. For its part, Qatari daily Al-Watan highlighted in its editorial the affirmation of the International Labor Organization (ILO) in its recent report on the great shift in the Qatari labor market over the past few years following the implementation of the new legislations approved by the government to reform the labor sector. The report also noted the Ministry of Labor's keenness on the implementation of labor legislation reforms and the partnership with the ILO after the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 through continuous cooperation programs in the development and modernization of reforms and legislations with various international organizations. Al-Watan underlined the great reforms implemented by the State of Qatar in labor areas, noting that the safety of workers has been always at the forefront of the State's priorities, stemming its religious, moral, humanitarian and constitutional principles, and in accordance with its authentic traditions and civilizational values. The paper warned that the aim of those who exploited workers' issue was to undermine Qatar as it will host the FIFA World Cup 2022, noting that international labor and human rights organizations revealed the facts and made clear to everyone that the immoral campaign against Qatar has failed. In conclusion, Al-Watan said that the tournament is only a few days away, when the whole world will discover that what was said against Qatar was just lies. Under the title "Fun activities beckon football fans", The Peninsula newspaper said that the State of Qatar has emerged as a global sporting hub by organising major regional and international tournaments and finally the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, the first FIFA World Cup to be hosted in the Middle East and the Arab world and the most geographically compact since the inaugural edition in 1930. The tournament is a tremendous opportunity for the region to welcome and connect with billions of people from across the globe, showcasing its unique identity and culture and building new bridges of understanding, the paper said, adding that a key objective of the World Cup is that it serves as a catalyst for the achievement of Qatar's long-term development goals as laid out in the Qatar National Vision 2030 and the National Development Strategy 2018-2022. The paper underlined that the country will host a vast array of cultural and entertainment activities for the fans, visitors and the public to make the tournament a really memorable occasion, noting that the FIFA has published on its official website a tourist guide to the cities, landmarks and activities that fans can explore during their visit to Qatar during the World Cup. A number of official and private institutions have prepared a rich programme of cultural, artistic and entertainment events for the public, the paper added.
