Qatari Newspapers Editorials

Doha, November 17 (QNA) - In their editorials Thursday, Qatari newspapers said that the State of Qatar has proven to the world that it has fulfilled the promise it made 12 years ago to organize an exceptional and unprecedented version of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 in terms of security, organization, level of stadiums, accompanying events, entertainment and the provision of all amenities and distinguished accommodation for the participating teams, guests and fans.
The newspapers stressed that the State of Qatar, HH the Amir, government and people welcome all its guests from around the world, and wish everyone to spend days full of fun and happiness in the State of Qatar, and to enjoy this historical event that embodies the spirit of brotherhood, cultural communication and acquaintance between peoples, and deepens feelings of harmony, tolerance and cooperation between them.
Al-Raya newspaper said in an article by its editor-in-chief that since Qatar won the honor to host the World Cup, a huge leap has been archived in all fields, thanks to the State's wise leadership, as all national efforts join hands to change everything for the better, noting that an advanced and world-class network of highways and main roads has been established, in order to pave access to all stadiums, sports facilities and the most important vital places in the country, in addition to parks, beaches, public facilities, pedestrian and bicycles paths along the roads and rainwater drainage network.
The paper pointed out that the comprehensive renaissance march has expanded over the past years and witnessed the completion of strategic infrastructure projects related to the urban plan, the development of the energy sector, the diversification of investments, and the emergence of Qatar at the global level as an incubator for international direct investment, as well as the achievement of a huge boom in the industrial, commercial, urban, agricultural, tourism and environmental fields, and in the enhancement of investments in the field of electricity production from solar energy, noting that Qatar announced pumping QR2.3 billion into solar power plants in Mesaieed and Ras Laffan industrial cities during this year, doubling the value of its total solar energy projects from QR1. 7 billion to about QR4 billion in a bid to boost its solar energy investments. The paper also referred to the establishment of an 800-MWp solar power plant in Al Kharsaah, which represents about 10 percent of the country's production capacity.
Al-Raya stressed that the health sector in the country witnessed a huge boom, noting that since 2011, ten new state-of-the-art hospitals and 16 modern and advanced primary health care centers have opened, bringing the number to 28 health centers. In addition to many new specialized facilities, including emergency and urgent care units. The private healthcare sector has also witnessed a significant expansion with the opening of many new hospitals and medical centers in recent years, while improving the quality of care provided to patients in the public and private sectors.
The paper indicated that the legacy of the World Cup is not only advanced infrastructure, gardens with international services and standards, metro lines linking many areas of the country, various new museums to preserve the civilizational and cultural heritage, hotels, giant commercial centers and tourist resorts that put Qatar on the world tourism map, but it also will consolidate the spirit of the tournament, in which patriotism and belonging were combined with challenge and determination to achieve what some think is impossible.
The daily underlined that organizing FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 was not easy, but it was filled with malicious media campaigns and abhorrent racist statements by Western officials aimed at distortion without justification, adding that Qatar has faced campaigns of slander since it won the right to organize the World Cup, as there were fabricated reports alleging the death of thousands of construction workers even before the construction of the World Cup stadiums began.
Al-Raya concluded by saying that the determination of Qatar and its wise leadership, which accepted that challenge which reflects the belief of the Qataris in their abilities to tackle the mission and make it a success did not waver, out of the wise leadership's awareness of the importance of hosting the World Cup, as HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani said "Hosting the World Cup combines several components of credibility and the ability to make positive influence, by accepting the challenge and integrating it within our national projects and development plans."
In its turn, Al-Sharq newspaper said in its editorial that in its regular meeting held Wednesday under the chairmanship of HE Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani, the Cabinet welcomed the leaders of fraternal and friendly countries and heads of delegations who will join HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani at the opening of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 on Sunday.
The Cabinet also welcomed the world national teams and missions participating in the tournament, expressing the State of Qatar's pride in hosting this tournament, the global scale it represents, and the higher human meanings and values it symbolizes. The Cabinet stressed that since winning the bid to host the FIFA World Cup, the State of Qatar has been working diligently and confidently to achieve an exceptional tournament that possesses all the elements for success and reflects the achievements and generosity of the Qatari people as well as the authenticity, civilization, and culture of the Arab world and the Middle East region, the paper added.
The paper underlined that the Cabinet is constantly following the arrangements and preparations for hosting the World Cup to ensure full readiness three days before the launch of the world's largest sporting event, as the State of Qatar, its leadership and people, provided all means to organize an exceptional tournament that is unique in the history of the World Cup tournaments. This World Cup will become a legacy for future generations in Qatar, the paper added.
In conclusion, Al-Sharq said that the State of Qatar, HH the Amir, government and people welcome all its guests from around the world, and wish everyone to spend days full of fun and happiness in the State of Qatar, and to enjoy this historical event that embodies the spirit of brotherhood, cultural communication and acquaintance between peoples, and deepens feelings of harmony, tolerance and cooperation between them.
For its part, the English-language newspaper, The Peninsula, Thursday praised the readiness of the health sector during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
Qatar has put in place a world-class healthcare system for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, expanding the hospital network across the country and boosting the workforce capacity, the paper stressed.
Under the title "World-class Healthcare", the newspaper said in its editorial that the Ministry of Public Health has worked extensively along with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) and the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC), and healthcare providers in the private sector to ensure smooth delivery of medical services during the mega event, which is expected to draw around 1.5 million visitors to Qatar in November and December.
Public and private healthcare providers have said they are ready to deal with any surge in the number of patients during the World Cup. Fifteen major private medical facilities will provide urgent and emergency care around the clock. Visitors with Hayya Card can access emergency and urgent medical services at HMC facilities free of charge throughout the tournament, the paper added.
The Peninsula concluded its editorial by noting that the Ministry of Public Health deserves praise for its years-long efforts for a safe and secure World Cup.
For its part, Al-Watan newspaper said in its editorial that Qatar's hosting of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 has received wide international support from the Arab Summit Conference in Algeria all the way to international and regional organizations led by the United Nations.
However, the newspaper expressed its regret at the Speaker of the Arab Parliament's position and his insistence not to condemn the malicious campaigns against the State of Qatar's hosting of the FIFA World Cup. A position that is not friendly, contrasting the positions of fellow members, disregarding the fact that Qatar is also a member of this parliament. Despite the majority of members of the Arab Parliament standing by the State of Qatar and supporting the issuance of a statement in this regard, all parliament members must stand in solidarity against hateful racist defamation campaigns.
The Speaker of the Arab Parliament's position cannot be understood. Despite the demands of the members, most notably Deputy Speaker of the Arab Parliament Khalil Attia, who asked the Parliament to issue a statement supporting the State of Qatar against the campaign it is being subjected to, the Speaker of Parliament continued to refrain in a step that can be read as aiming to serve foreign agendas and not of Arabs who all supported the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, and expressed feelings of joy and solidarity in every possible way, presenting Qatar as tangible evidence that requires support for its amazing capabilities, which reflect a modern, noble and positive image about the Arab countries and the people of the region, the paper added.
In conclusion, Al-Watan stressed that the position of the speaker of the Arab Parliament is completely unacceptable and inconsistent with the millions of Arabs whose feelings this parliament must express with the utmost honesty and responsibility. (QNA)
