Doha, November 24 (QNA) - In their Thursday editorials, the Qatari newspapers highlighted the Cabinet’s praise in its regular meeting held Wednesday under the chairmanship of HE Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani for the outstanding and exceptional success of the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and the important contents in HH the Amir's speech when opening the tournament, the dazzling preparation, organization and directing of the historic opening ceremony.
The newspapers also dealt with the launch of Darb Al Saai activities on Friday in Umm Salal Muhammad area, in celebration of the Qatar National Day 2022, falling on Dec. 18. This year’s edition will witness the largest plethora of cultural, heritage, and artistic activities along with a host of intellectual seminars, poetry evenings, theatrical performances and visual arts that reflect the Qatari culture and heritage and the national identity.
Al-Sharq newspaper noted in its editorial the outstanding and exceptional success of the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 on Sunday. In this regard, the paper referred to the Cabinet's praise in its regular meeting that took place on Wednesday at its headquarters at the Amiri Diwan chaired by HE Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani. On this historic occasion, the Cabinet expressed its pride in the wise policy and directives of HH the Amir, thanks to which the State of Qatar was able to accomplish successive achievements, adding that the successful and distinct hosting of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 which dazzled the world, adds a new and unique chapter in the record of achievements that strengthened the State's position and its active role for the establishment of world peace and consolidation of the principles of understanding and solidarity between countries and peoples.
The Cabinet has the right to be proud of the success achieved by the historic and legendary opening ceremony of the World Cup, and the wide international praises it received. This great achievement would not have happened without the integration of the efforts of state institutions, the harmony of performance and the tight coordination between them, as well as the continuous hard work over the past 12 years to reach an exceptional World Cup tournament that honors Qatar and the Arab and Islamic nation, the paper said.
Al-Sharq concluded its editorial by saying, the Cabinet, chaired by His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani, deserves praise as the outstanding operational performance of the government was behind the success of organizing the World Cup and creating the organizational, urban, social and economic environment to achieve HH the Amir's directives, making this global event a catalyst for a comprehensive renaissance in all fields.
In its turn, Al-Watan newspaper said at the beginning of its editorial that the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 on Sunday will remain a milestone in World Cup history, as will the speech of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, which was a bright beacon, reflecting the values of peace, solidarity, and brotherhood.
In this context, the newspaper highlighted the Cabinet's praise at its regular meeting, chaired by HE Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, for the outstanding and exceptional success achieved by the opening ceremony and the important contents of the speech of HH the Amir when opening the tournament, the dazzling preparation, organization and directing of the historic opening ceremony; hailing the ceremony's performances which carried messages of deep meanings, reflected the bright images of the civilizational and cultural heritage of the State of Qatar and the Arab world, and emphasized the human dimension of sport and its influential role in uniting people and spreading a culture of peace, tolerance, mutual respect and acquaintance among nations.
In conclusion, Al-Watan said that the Cabinet affirmed that the success of the World Cup opening ceremony, the wide acclaim it received from around the world, and the success achieved by the tournament at all levels will remain a source of pride for the State of Qatar and its people and youth who were behind this achievement with their efforts, thoughts, and hard and continuous work over 12 years to create an environment conducive to organizing the tournament and achieving the World Cup in all organizational, urban, social and economic aspects, leading to an exceptional World Cup tournament that honors the Arab nation.
In turn, the English-language newspaper Qatar Tribune highlighted the Cabinet's applaud to the outstanding and exceptional success of the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 on Sunday, which was opened by HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, adding that the Cabinet meeting, chaired by HE Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani on Wednesday, highlighted the important contents of HH the Amir’s speech delivered during the opening ceremony, and the dazzling preparation and organization of the historic occasion.
The newspaper said that the Cabinet hailed the performances, which carried messages of deep meanings, reflected the bright images of the civilizational and cultural heritage of the State of Qatar and the Arab world, and emphasized the human dimension of sport and its influential role in uniting people and spreading a culture of peace, tolerance, mutual respect.
For its part, and under the title "Darb Al Saai: A Mirror that Reflects Qatari Authenticity," Al-Raya newspaper affirmed in its editorial that the celebrations of the National Day have always been associated with the activities of Darb Al Saai, which have always brought joy and happiness to everyone, with the diversity of its paragraphs and its keenness to highlight the rich Qatari heritage and introduce the new generations of the lives and past of the people of Qatar.
Al-Raya said that Darb Al Saai's activities to mark Qatar National Day, which is celebrated on Dec. 18 each year, will kick off on Friday under the slogan ‘Our Unity is the Source of Our Strength’ on its permanent venue in Umm Salal Muhammed.
The 24-day event will offer a plethora of cultural, heritage and artistic activities along with a host of seminars, poetry evenings, theatrical performances and visual arts that reflect the Qatari culture, heritage and the national identity, the newspaper said.
The Ministry of Culture prepared about 4,500 cultural and heritage activities under more than 191 main events, the paper added.
Al-Raya indicated that Qatar National Day will be diverse and stem from the Qatari environment, and this year's celebrations coincide with Qatar's hosting of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, noting that the Organizing Committee for the Qatar National Day 2022 celebrations was keen to coordinate the cultural and heritage events in line with the national vision aimed at boosting the participation of all society members, visitors and guests of the State of Qatar in the National Day celebrations, highlighting the country's history and heritage, and keeping pace with the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 currently being held in Doha.
Al-Raya concluded by emphasizing that Darb Al Saai represents a milestone in Qatar's National Day celebrations, stressing that an entire generation of Qataris has grown up in the spirit and values of Darb Al Saai, which have always aimed to instill citizenship and belonging to Qatar in the hearts of everyone who resides on this good land.
For its part, Al-Arab newspaper underlined the State of Qatar's keenness - since it began preparing for the implementation of the tournament's projects, that the Qatari and Arab identity would be the dominant features of the facilities and the atmosphere, explaining that as the symbols chosen for the World Cup Qatar 2022 are drawn from the Arab culture, they represent a reminder that this is the first World Cup tournament to be held in the Arab world and Middle East.
Under the title 'Qatari Identity Certainly Seen in World Cup Qatar 2022,' Al-Arab newspaper said that the most striking feature noticed by the World Cup fans who have come to Qatar to attend the tournament was that the identity of Qatar and the Arab world is always present in what they encounter, and that modernity in Qatar does not overshadow the national identity.
The paper pointed out that the World Cup logo is in white and maroon, which are the colors of the Qatari flag, while the shape is inspired by the number 8, which is the number of the World Cup stadiums. The logo also symbolizes the World Cup's 'infinite' legacy that the tournament will leave behind, in addition to many small thoroughly-drawn details inspired by the Qatari/Arab identity, including the woolen scarf, the ripples of the desert dunes, and the floral motifs at the bottom of the logo, which evoke traditional Arabic art, while the two dots surrounding the football at the top left, as well as the space in the middle of the word 'Qatar' symbolize Arabic calligraphy, the paper explained.
The paper also pointed out that the official mascot of World Cup Qatar 2022 'La'eeb' symbolizes the ghutra, which is the traditional attire headdress in the Gulf, while the official poster that appears at Gate D-18 at Hamad International Airport (HIA) in Doha is a black and white image of a hand raised towards the sky, waving the ghutra and egal.
Al-Watan concluded its editorial by saying that no matter how paid media campaigns continue, all eyes around the globe are on Qatar, witnessing how an Arab country has turned into an oasis of peace, safety and coexistence between different races, nationalities and beliefs.
At the local level, the English-language newspaper, The Peninsula, stressed that the State of Qatar and the United States enjoyed strong bilateral ties and cooperation over the past 50 years and are set to take the partnership to new heights for the mutual benefit of the two countries and their people.
Under the title 'Qatar-US Strategic Ties,' the paper said that HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani met Tuesday with HE Secretary of State of the friendly United States of America Antony Blinken on the sidelines of the fifth Qatar-US Strategic Dialogue in Doha.
The opening session of the dialogue addressed several regional and global issues including the situation in the Palestinian territories, the repercussions of the crisis between Russia and Ukraine, energy and food security, and cooperation on promoting and ensuring human rights, the paper added.
The Peninsula concluded its editorial by saying that US Secretary of State commended the strength of the partnership between the two countries, saying that the two sides are at the peal point of the 50-year diplomatic relations and that cooperation is now stronger than ever before. (QNA)
