Qatari Newspapers Editorials

Doha, November 29 (QNA) - Qatari newspapers published Tuesday highlighted the Shura Council's response to the European Parliament's false allegations. In a statement on Monday, the Council sent clear and strong messages confirming the European Union's adoption of hate speech against Qatar, and that the European Parliament's resolution is part of the systematic, suspicious, and heinous campaigns targeting the State of Qatar over its FIFA World Cup 2022 hosting. The newspapers noted the Shura Council's condemnation, in the strongest terms, of the European Parliament's intervention in the State of Qatar's internal affairs, rejecting diktats and attempts to alter the Qatari people's entrenched moral values, stressing that Qatar is an independent country that neither accept any dictates from others nor moral lessons from anyone. Qatar has provided everything that would contribute to hosting a memorable World Cup through all the facilities provided, chose to bypass all the allegations, and overlooked all abuses to focus on only presenting an unforgettable edition of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. However, the smear campaign against Qatar exceeded all logic and is clearly politicized to harm Qatar because it obtained the bid to organize World Cup and the great success it achieved in it, the paper said. Qatar always considered this World Cup a golden opportunity to promote the values of respect, cultural diversity, tolerance, and social inclusion. It wanted to achieve all these goals, providing all the resources but was surprised to face different agendas that want to undermine Qatar and the Arab region as a whole. European Parliament resolution on the human rights situation in the State of Qatar, issued on Nov. 24, amid the country's World Cup 2022 hosting, confirms a number of facts most notably, the amount of hypocrisy and false, malicious allegations. In conclusion, Al-Watan warned against the European Parliament's stance, which ignites calls for hatred between the East and the West and widens the gaps among cultures. This resolution will not discourage Qatar from proceeding with its policy aimed at spreading an atmosphere of security, peace, and harmony, but at the same time it will not accept, under any circumstances, dictation and interference in its affairs, under false pretexts and fabrications, the paper stressed. In turn, Al-Sharq newspaper said in its editorial that the European Parliament resolution on the human rights situation in the State of Qatar, issued on Nov. 24, amid the country's World Cup 2022 hosting was completely and categorically rejected by the Shura Council and the Qatari people. The newspaper indicated that this resolution, affirmed by the Council, was based on false allegations and misleading information, continuing the systematic, suspicious, and heinous campaigns targeting the State of Qatar over its FIFA World Cup 2022 hosting. The resolution aroused resentment from the Qatari people because of the falsification of facts and participation in conspiratorial and systematic campaigns against the State of Qatar. The European Parliament's stance is characterized by its hypocrisy, double standards, and racism. Despite all of Qatar's efforts to host the World Cup along with its measures that were discussed by the European Parliament itself and the Shura Council during mutual visits, the European Parliament favored to back those who reject an Arab and Muslim country hosting the World Cup, the paper said. Al-Sharq said that what is surprising is the continuation of these campaigns even with the start of the World Cup, and Qatar receiving of thousands of multicultural fans in an atmosphere dominated by enthusiasm and friendliness, a move affirmed by the State of Qatar as a precious opportunity to boost the values of respect, cultural diversity, tolerance, and social inclusion. The newspaper concluded its editorial by saying that the interference of the European Parliament in the internal affairs of the State of Qatar is unacceptable, rejecting attempts to alter the Qatari people's entrenched moral values, stressing that Qatar, as affirmed by the Shura Council, is an independent country that neither accepts any dictates from others nor moral lessons from anyone. In turn, Al-Arab newspaper stressed in its editorial that the European Parliament has involved itself in the malicious and systematic campaigns against the State of Qatar, and issued last Thursday a resolution on human rights situation in Qatar amid the ongoing World Cup 2022. The newspaper said that the European Parliament tried, through its resolution based on false and misleading facts, to impose guardianship on the State of Qatar and to interfere in its internal affairs, a position that contradicts its responsibilities as a representative of peoples, especially with regard to the items it contained regarding human rights, workers, women, and the practice of religious rites, pointing out that the resolution also said that the decision to award Qatar hosting rights for the World Cup 2022 has been marred by bribery and corruption. The paper noted the Shura Council's response on Monday to the European Parliament's resolution, which triggered Qatari people's resentfulness, and released a statement in which it expressed ultimate rejection for the resolution. The Council condemned in the strongest terms the European Parliament's intervention in the State of Qatar's internal affairs, rejecting diktats and attempts to alter the Qatari people's entrenched moral values, the paper added. The newspaper expressed regret over allegations of corruption and bribery within the process by which Qatar was awarded the tournament at this particular time, although those allegations were officially proven false through documented and independent investigations in 2011 and 2014. The paper wondered about the European Parliament's motives for raising this issue after it was officially closed eight years ago, stressing that the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, which is currently taking place in the State of Qatar and runs until Dec. 18, achieved a remarkable success at all levels in an atmosphere full of love and friendship in an Arab and Muslim country. In conclusion, Al-Arab called on the European Parliament to think again, not to try to impose its guardianship on others, and to refrain arrogance, pointing out that the European Parliament must apologize to the State of Qatar and its people for the arrogant stance it took and for issuing a resolution based on false allegations and misleading information. Meanwhile, Al-Raya daily underlined that the State of Qatar rejects diktats from anyone and will not allow any party to interfere in its internal affairs, noting that this was affirmed by the Shura Council, which sent clear and strong messages confirming that the European Union has adopted hate speech against Qatar and that it is part of the hateful campaigns to undermine Qatar's hosting of the World Cup. In its editorial, the newspaper highlighted the Shura Council's rejection of the European Parliament's resolution on the human rights situation in the State of Qatar amid the ongoing World Cup 2022. The Council stressed that this resolution is based on false allegations and misleading information and continues the systematic, suspicious and heinous campaigns targeting the State of Qatar over its FIFA World Cup 2022 hosting, expressing ultimate rejection for the resolution and its allegations, the paper added. The paper indicated that the State of Qatar has become accustomed to such racist attacks motivated by jealousy and hatred, and which were issued by suspicious organizations and media outlets known for their bias against Qatar, adding that what is surprising is that such malicious attacks are coming from an entity that has good relations with Qatar. In conclusion, Al-Raya stressed that Qatar is fully aware that such an attack comes within the framework of blackmail and an attempt to pressure Qatar in order to achieve certain gains, pointing out that this matter is totally unacceptable and will not be accepted by Qatar, which previously announced that the number of worker deaths in the workplace did not exceed three deaths, which is the lowest rate compared to what happened in the countries that hosted previous editions of the World Cup. The Peninsula newspaper said in its editorial Tuesday that the constant unjust smear campaigns against Qatar have been based on false accusations and mainly as the country hosts the FIFA World Cup. Recently, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) disclosed it was observing with great concern the increase in hate speech and islamophobia targeting Qatar. Under the title "No to anti-Qatar campaigns" the newspaper said that the Shura Council affirmed its stance on the issue rejecting a European Parliament resolution on the human rights situation in Qatar. It said the resolution was based on false allegations and misleading information and continues the systematic, suspicious and heinous campaigns targeting Qatar over its FIFA World Cup 2022 hosting, expressing ultimate rejection for the resolution and its allegations. The Council said that the anti-Qatar campaigns went unabated despite the ongoing tournament, which has seen Qatar warmly welcome thousands of multicultural fans "in an atmosphere dominated by enthusiasm and friendliness." The council also rightly rejected the resolution that triggered Qatari people’s resentfulness over its disinformation and being part of the anti-Qatar systematic conspiracy schemes, The Peninsula added. The Peninsula concluded by saying that recently, a visiting European Parliament delegation commended Qatar for its extensive labour reforms, transparency and promotion of workers’ rights. Qatar’s reforms have also been hailed as a model for many countries. Lusail newspaper highlighted the Shura Council's rejection of European Parliament resolution on human rights situation in the State of Qatar and considered it an extension of the systematic campaigns. The paper referred to the Shura Council's affirmation that the European Parliament's stance, based on this resolution, ignites calls of hatred between the East and the West, and its call for the European Parliament to further verify and commit to professionalism, considering that the State of Qatar has harnessed material and human resources to organize an ideal tournament. The Gulf Times newspaper also highlighted the Shura Council's rejection of the European Parliament resolution on human rights situation in the State of Qatar, referring to the Council's statement released at the end of its weekly session, in which it affirmed that this resolution was based on false allegations and misleading information and continues the systematic, suspicious and heinous campaigns targeting the State of Qatar over its FIFA World Cup 2022 hosting, expressing ultimate rejection for the resolution and its allegations. Qatar Tribune newspaper also focused on the same issue. It referred to the Shura Council's statement that said, despite all Qatar's efforts to host the World Cup along with its measures that were discussed by the European Parliament itself and the Shura Council during mutual visits, the European Parliament favored to back those who reject an Arab and Muslim country hosting the World Cup, a move that discloses hypocrisy, double standards and racism.
