QU, Education Above All Enhance Cooperation on Scholarships

Doha, November 13 (QNA) - Qatar University (QU) signed an agreement with the Education Above All (EAA) Foundation to develop and enhance joint cooperation regarding the Qatar Scholarships, a program affiliated with the EAA and the General Directorate of Endowments at the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs. The agreement was signed by Vice President for Student Affairs, Dr. Eiman Mustafawi and Director of the Al Fakhoora Program of the Education Above All Foundation Talal Al Hothal. According to the agreement, both parties agreed on bilateral cooperation to offer 100 new scholarships at Qatar University, and to enhance coordination and partnership opportunities in other areas of common interest. The two parties also agreed to provide all possible assistance within the legally defined competencies for each party, to achieve the objectives of this educational support in a manner that fulfills the role assigned to each of them. In a statement, Mustafawi said the agreement with the EAA, which serves Qatar University students, comes within the framework of ensuring the best educational opportunities for students. Both parties, through this cooperation, will work to provide the best educational opportunities for students targeted by this program, and through this memorandum they will continue to work in various other areas of common interest, Mustafawi added. Al Hothal said the agreement comes within the framework of the EAA's continuation of its work to provide opportunities for students in the higher education sector, noting that the program has so far provided 125 scholarships for students inside the State of Qatar from various universities. He stressed that the EAA devotes its efforts to ensuring that some of the most needy groups receive higher education, which will support them in building a prosperous future. Al Hothal thanked the General Administration of Endowments, represented by the Endowment Bank for Scientific and Cultural Development, for its support for the program, expressing his aspiration to the next stage aimed at increasing the number of students benefiting from higher education opportunities within the country. He added that the EAA cooperates with Qatar University to provide support and create equitable educational opportunities that allow all students to access higher education. (QNA)
