Quake Jolts N Sumatra's Nias Island

Bandarlampung, Lampung, Sept 15 (Antara) - An earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale shook Nias island in North Sumatra province on Sunday night, according to the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG). The epicenter of the quake which struck at 11.52 p.m. local time was 31 km southwest of North Nias district at a depth of 14 km, head of the Kotabumi geophysics station in Lampung province Yuharman said quoting a BMKG report. The quake did not have the potential to cause a tsunami, he said.
