Queen To Launch Floria 2012

PUTRAJAYA, June 29 (Bernama) -- Malaysian Queen Tuanku Hajah Haminah will launch Floria Putrajaya 2012 on Saturday. The nine-day festival, carrying the theme "Bougainvillea - Enduring Beauty", will showcase 400,000 trees and flowers of various local and international species. Putrajaya Corporation President Samsudin Osman said the festival would feature 16 international landscape artists and flower decorators from countries such as Australia, Taiwan, Indonesia, the Philippines, China, the Netherlands, the United States and the United Kingdom. "We are estimating close to a million visitors this year because this annual festival has been Putrajaya's main attraction since it was introduced in 2009," he told reporters Friday. Various activities such as workshops and demonstrations on gardening, photography and water painting competitions will be organised and stalls selling arts and craft will be set up as well. Located at the lakeside in Precinct 2, Putrajaya, the events will be held from 9 am to 10 pm from Monday to Thursday and from 9 am to midnight from Friday to Sunday. -- BERNAMA
