Queue card system cancelled for mourners
BANGKOK, Oct 30 (TNA) - The government's situation monitoring centre cancelled distribution of queue cards for mourners to pay respects before the royal urn after huge crowds of mourners streamed into the Grand Palace.
Thai people from all over the country have flocked to pay homage to beloved King Bhumibol Adulyadej at the Dusit Maha Prasart Throne Hall on the second day today.
On Saturday, the first day that public members were allowed to enter the throne hall, the number of people, paying respects to the late King was recorded at over 29,000.
Prime Minister’s Office Minister and the secretary of the centre, Suwaphan Tanyuvardhana said the cancellation of queue card system would allow officials to arrange more people in groups into the throne hall in large number.
As of 2 pm today, officials told people to come tomorrow after the number of people was over the limit at 30,000 a day. The throne hall is open for public members from 8am to 9 pm.
As Sanam Luang is set to open for the public from 4 am to 9 pm, mourners, travelling from upcountry are advised to stay at shelters, provided by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration. Transportation service to free accommodation is available for them. (TNA)
