Quran competition final qualifications held

Manama, Apr.15 (BNA): Winners of 23rd Bahrain Holy Quran Grand Prize will be honoured during a final ceremony which will be held in Ramadhan. The Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments is organizing the competition in cooperation with the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (SCIA), under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa. The Department of Holy Quran Affairs held the final qualifications for the 23rd edition last Saturday, said Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Ministry Undersecretary Dr. Fareed bin Yacoub Al-Meftah. A total of 2882 contenders – 1361 men and 1521 – took part in the preliminary qualifications phase, an all-time high ever since the competition was first launched in 1996. Dr. Al-Meftah paid tribute to HM the King for patronizing Bahrain Holy Quran Grand Prize since its inception, hailing the support of Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (SCIA) President Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalid Al-Khalifa, the founder of the competition.
