RCA distributes aid to areas battered by Typhoon Bopha

Mindanao, June 9, 2013 (WAM) - : The UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA) delegation to the Philippines, led by Mohammed Abdullah Al Hajj Al Zarouni, has reached the victims of Typhoon Bopha that recently hit the region of Mindanao.
Al Zarouni distributed the first batch of assistance to the victims in the presence of UAE Ambassador to the Philippines Mousa Abdul Wahid Abdul Ghafar Al Khaja, along with the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Richard J . Gordon.
He added the first batch of the aid was distributed to about 500 Filipino families living in the tents, noting that they were displaced by the devastating Typhoon Bopha (known locally as Typhoon Pablo).
Al Zarouni also said the RCA relief aid targets the regions, located in New Bataan, Compostela Valley Province in Mindanao, due to the devastating typhoon, which hit it few months ago.
For his part, the UAE ambassador said that the RCA team will be present in the affected sites to extend support to those affected by the typhoon so as to alleviate the suffering of the inhabitants of in that region.
On the other hand, Richard J. Gordon extended thanks to the RCA for humanitarian gesture towards people of the Philippines, adding that the philanthropic body is present in all parts of the world, especially those prone to natural disasters and crises. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
