RCA implements aid programme worth over Dh130 million in Sudan

Abu Dhabi, June 23, 2013 (WAM) - The Red Crescent Authority (RCA) implemented a humanitarian and developmental programme in Sudan at a cost of Dh 130, 747, 706 million between 1993 to 2012.
Deputy Secretary General of RCA for Relief and Project Naeema Al Muhairi said that the for the past 20 years, the authority was boosting its humanitarian and relief efforts in several Sudanese areas, which were affected by floods, armed conflicts, drought and famine.
She said that most aid programmes in Sudan are provided by RCA through the Embassy of the UAE in Khartoum and in cooperation with the Sudanese Red Crescent Society (SRCS) and other local charitable societies.
She added that the number of orphans in Sudan, being sponsored by the RCA reached 4752 and the value of what has been spent till December 2012 is around Dh 30,899, 638 million in addition to the implementation of construction projects such as: mosques, digging wells, drinking water, building clinics, schools, orphanages and infrastructure. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
