Red Crescent distributes thousands of relief baskets to victims of Typhoon Bopha

Mindanao, Philippines, June 13, 2013 (WAM) - : The UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA) mission team HAS completed its humanitarian task to distribute thousands of relief baskets to 5000 Filipino families recently hit by Typhoon Bopha (Pablo), in the south of the Philippines, especially in Mindanao. Mohammed Abdullah Al Haj Al Zarouni, Chairman of the Mission of Red Crescent team said that the RCA decided to buy an ambulance equipped with the latest medical equipment and submitted to the Philippine Red Cross. In a statement to the Emirates News Agency, WAM, Al Zarouni said that the ambulance was purchased as result of donation from the RCA of US$ 36,000 and the UAE Embassy to the Philippines will hand it over to the Philippine Red Cross to coincide with the Philippines Independence Day. He added that the assistance relief was distributed to needy families in coordination with the UAE Embassy. The Philippine Red Cross and peoples thanked and expressed their appreciation to the UAE government and peoples, as well as to the Red Crescent for their efforts in helping Filipino people. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
