Regular meeting of Security Council to discuss current epidemiological situation in country

Bishkek, July 7, 2020. /Kabar/. A regular meeting of Kyrgyzstan’s Security Council was held yesterday, July 7 with the participation of President Sooronbay Jeenbekov and heads of state bodies, governors, mayors and heads of regions. According to the Kyrgyz President’s press service, the meeting held in the format of videoconference considered the issue of current epidemiological situation in the country. Deputy Prime Minister Aida Ismailova, Health Minister Sabirzhan Abdikarimov, Bishkek Mayor Aziz Surakmatov reported on activities to prevent further spread of coronavirus infection and provide medical assistance to the population. Speaker of the country’s Parliament Dastanbek Dzhumabekov and Prime Minister Kubatbek Boronov also reported. The President criticized the work of the Government and the country's Health Ministry for the lack of analysis and forecasting of further developments in the situation, as well as for allowing panic among the population in recent days. He noted that at the moment the priority task of the Ministry of Health is to receive and accommodate patients in hospitals and clinics on time. Jeenbekov spoke about the importance of continuing explanatory work among the population on compliance with sanitary norms. Besides, the Republican Headquarters for Combating COVID-19 was recommended to consider the possibility of suspension of public transport communication between regions and introduction of a temporary ban on holding festivities. The Kyrgyz leader underlined that the issue of imposing a state of emergency throughout the country is not yet considered. He also reminded that sanitary-epidemiological and quarantine restrictions imposed by local leaders are mandatory for all citizens and economic entities. Jeenbekov once again urged compatriots to civil responsibility in the fight against the coronavirus. The regular meeting of the Security Council resulted in adoption of number of decisions.
