Representatives Council to hold NAC conference Thursday

Manama, Feb. 7 (BNA): Under His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s patronage, the Representatives Council will organise, in cooperation with the International Peace Institute (IPI), the National Action Charter (NAC) Conference and Exhibition entitled " Future Prospects, Sustainable Development and Peace".
Coinciding with the kingdom’s annual celebrations of the National Action Charter Anniversary, which falls on February 14, the conference aims to shed light on the honourable national stances regarding such a major event in the kingdom’s modern history, explore the future prospects, and highlight its relation to sustainable development and global peace.
The National Action Charter Conference and Exhibition will feature three main plenary sessions, covering three themes, the political, religious and economic ones.
The first session, related to the political theme and entitled "NAC and Benefits"; will be moderated by MP Abdulrahman Bu Majeed.
Cabinet Affairs Minister and member of the Supreme Committee of the National Action Charter, Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al-Mutawa, will lecture about the NAC’s idea and efforts.
Vice-President of the Supreme Council for Women and member of the Supreme Committee of the National Action Charter, Dr. Shaikha Mariam bint Hassan Al Khalifa will talk about women empowerment, while the Deputy Chairman of the Human Rights Committee at the Council of Representatives, MP Dr. Majeed Mohsen Al-Asfoor will focus on the Initiative and Reforms.
Regarding the second session on religious matters, themed "NAC Tolerance and Peace", member of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Dr. Shaikh Rashid Al-Hajiri, Chairman of the Legislative and Legal Affairs Committee at the Representatives Council, MP Majid Al-Majid, Shura Council member, Nancy Khadhouri, and the IPI’s Managing Director at the UAE, Dr. Hamad Al-Sheikh Al-Shaibani, will be the key speakers.
Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB) Governor, Rasheed Al-Miraj, and Afnan Al-Zayani will be the key speakers at the third session themed "Sustainable Development and Prospects", and will focus on "Reality and Challenges" and "Economic Empowerment, respectively.
The conference will highlight the most important national stages in the work of the Supreme Committee of the National Action Charter, as well as the interactive participation of Bahraini youth in the Reform Project, in addition to the role of women and economic empowerment in the overall development of the country.
It will also explore the propsects for the National Action Charter and its role in sustainable development and global peace.
Dignitaries, officials who participated in drafting the NAC and members of the Legislative Branch will take part in the conference.
