Royal cremation day of late Thai King set on Oct 26
BANGKOK, April 25 (TNA) - The Thai Cabinet has announced October 26, 2017 the royal cremation day of late His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej and a public holiday to allow people from all walks of life to take part in the royal cremation ceremony, set to be held at Sanam Luang ceremonial ground near Grand Palace in Bangkok.
Government Spokesman Lieutenant General Sansern Kaewkammnerd told journalists of the Cabinet's resolution on Tuesday, after the Cabinet's weekly meeting at the Government House earlier in the day.
The spokesman stated that the royal cremation ceremony will be held during October 25-29, 2017, but the actual royal cremation will be held at the Sanam Luang ceremonial ground on October 26 during 5:30pm-10pm.
On December 29, the spokesman said, the late and beloved Thai Kind's relics will be enshrined at the Chakkri Maha Prasat Throne Hall in the Grand Palace, while his ashes will be enshrined at the Ratchabophit Sathit Maha Simaram Temple and the Bowonniwet Vihara Temple.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Culture was assigned by the Cabinet to organize a post-royal cremation exhibition at the Sanam Luang ceremonial ground during November 1-30. (TNA)
